Hi ya guys,
I\'ve just driven my rx for the first time in months getting it ready to go down to reworx, and there is a horrible knocking comming from the nearside rear suspension area, when i bounce the car I can here a knocking noise, I\'ve jacked it up and taken the week off and it sounds like its comming from the suspension itself not a bush.
I\'ve got HKS hyper d\'s not sure what the next step is, or how to prove it is infact the suspension, also does anyone know anything about the adjustment on HKS suspension, the rears have valves at the bottom of them, what do they do?
Basically I\'m after any advice the will help me cure the noise.
Thanks in advance
Alan
well if you can take the springs off and physically try to move the shock,it might give you an idea of whats wrong. try the adjustment fully soft and bounce it like hell and then fully hard.......just gets everything moving inside.
might work but then it might not.
Yeah think the first port of call is getting the shock off and seeing whats going on, if I can\'t find anything I\'ll swap the rears and see if the noise changes side.
Double check the pillowball bushes too as they\'re notorious for causing knocking noises and creaking when they wear out.
dude these shocks are filled with nitrigen. there is a nut at the bottom on the strut. undo it and inside is a tyre (like) valve. it mabe it has leaked and out of air!
Quite possibly but how do I check? I don\'t want to upset anything?
are they pillowball top mounts? maybe the pillowball in the top mount has had it?
just undo the nut ( no air will leak) if you see the air valve go to a decent tyre fitters and get htem to put hte nitrogen in ( air without water vapour ) best to phone up hks or email them to find out the kg/persquare cm
I\'ve had them off and there is no play in the pillow balls, I can work out where the knocking is comming form not 100% sure its the coilovers now.
