Title: Rebuilt Engine Mileage
Post by: T11MNM on January 30, 2008, 04:51:34 PM
Hi,

I\'m just wondering if there is a resource online where people have documented mileage on rebuilt engines and who built them, etc.

Also, when an engine is rebuilt these days are parts updated/rated to last longer than the ~60k mark or is it a case of, no matter what you do to the FD3S engine it\'s going to die at 60k or there and there abouts.

I do understand that engines go at any mileage and there can be any number of variables for an engine letting go, i\'m talking about well looked after, well tuned engines.

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Thanks

Tim

Tim, there isn’t a database as such that I\'m aware off, but when having an engine rebuilt a reputable company would list the mileage on the invoice for the work.

There are FD3S engines that have lasted a lot longer than the 60k there about\'s figures floating around the web. There are also those that have needed work way before that. Leave the car in stock form and it should last a long time.
