Title: New fd owner! Woohoo
Post by: civicboy28 on January 28, 2008, 11:15:21 PM
Just picked up my 1995 White fd
she\'s loverly, first thing I want to do is meet some other fd owners and get all your tips and advice LOL
Think the first step mod wise is an apexi power fc and commander so I know what\'s going on a bit more. Need some boost gagues as well I think hehe.
It really is an Amazing car to drive, the steering feels spot on, nice and fast.
I can\'t believe how smooth the power delivery and engine is! I\'m startled why we still have piston engines in production, the fuel isn\'t that bad either, not for the fun you have!!
I know you probably get posts like this all the time, but its exciting having Anew toy!

Hi Trev, can see why you didnt want to sell yours in the end now! :-)
Had to hold out quite a while for a decent one at the right price.

Taken a bit of a chance with the engine, but i saved in the initial costs of buying it to subsidise a rebuild cost. but the exterior and interior are top notch.

I paid 5k for it but the body Is mint, I dont have any compression results, I brought the car more on feel, and it felt right, I want to do all the fluids and plugs and check over all the vacuum pips for the turbo\'s.
I had a budget of 7-8k so if got enough for A rebuild if needed.
The car just has a cat back exhaust and 18\'s and lowered slightly
I want the re-A side skirts and rear splats and a c-west front bumper, bit I\'ll just build it up over the year. Its my first car if brought as a bit of a project so should be fun

O yer I\'m in herts, just near enfield

There\'s plenty of people in Herts. :Thumbs-up

Some of the boys are organising a tunnel run - good chance to meet some fellow owners. see here (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46353) If that\'s a bit early for you I\'m sure there will be more meets as the weather gets better.

Be careful though - don\'t want you damaging your new Rex!

Welcome to the club matey!!

I know exactly how you feel after getting mine in September....you just never want to get out of her!! And the power and noise is just addictive - i\'m gonna get a petition started for a red-lining rotary to go on the banned substances list!! lol

But be warned....the fuel consumption WILL go down if you drive her like yshe was meant to be driven! I\'m averaging around 14mpg just now!! :O

I will get in touch with him, I\'m racing this weekend so haven\'t had time yet. I will do though, just about to go out in the Rex for a blast actually!
It needs a polish, it will get that next weekend. Think I\'ll do a fluid change too, and fit new plugs.

Yer it does seem dead. still see PhilW posting though!!
I went out in his JDM ITR when i first met you guys over at hatfield all them years ago. I seem to remember my mate going out in  your Red TEG and giving him a bit of a scare through the tunnel under the galleria.

shame really...it just became to cliquey really...
I faintly remember taking your mate out in my teg! I miss that car :( eve though i did stack it many a time...id buy that back like a shot if i was offered it! 12 trackdays and one ring trip and never missed a beat....iirc i only changed the oil on it once!

exactly my civic took some abuse, and never ever went wrong.
Love my celica too, the build quality is outstanding for a 90\'s jap car. Much Much better than the Mazda. which is pretty bad for such an expensive car new!!!
lol still i guess its all about saving weight!!! and the way its so well balance in a corner, it turns in perfectly and the traction out the corner is amazing. so all is forgiven. :-)

hmmm i think in an ideal world id like to make a F20c powered RWD DC2! Ultra reliable, Normally aspirated and a brilliant chassis!

that exhaust is absolutely massive!!!!!!
Title: New fd owner! Woohoo
Post by: civicboy28 on February 08, 2008, 09:52:34 PM
yes please!
I nearly brought a DC2 when i was struggling for insurance on a FD.
its the only the FWD that i wanted to get away from. also looked at supras...but they were mainly auto and a bit big.

I think i made the right choice going for a rex....but i would still like to own a DC2 at some stage. infact the NEW JDM civic type R looks like its a very driver focused car too.

Its a HKS Super Dragger...and yes it is ridiculously big.
I have to check for live animals and children before i start her up lol

Post by: Jit on February 08, 2008, 09:58:36 PM
yeah I saw a few of them JDM CTRs while I was out in Japan...must say they do look nice! I still wouldnt back one over a DC2 tho...im generally not a fan of 4 doors... i love coupes tho...and big 2 door luxo-barges like cosmos and soarers! Ive had one more DC2 since the red one but for some reason i found myself selling it to fix an FD...when really i should have been selling the FD to drive the teg!

you dont sound convinced by the FD\'s. :-)
im a coupe man through and through too, i just like the no thrills attitude of the JDM CTR. makes our one look like a lexus with all the add ons and weight lol.
