Hey, im looking at:
http://www.ultralitewheels.com/taka.htm
as a possibility of wheels
the Size are 18x9.5/8.5 with an offset 35, I have the wide arches front and back, will these fill them, or would they look a little small! :)
Cheers,
James
I think they may not fill the arches properly, I have these fitted to my standard , ie not wide bodied, FD. They just about fill the arches on that
Edit: not those exact wheels but another design of that size from Ultralite. Ultralite supply some pretty decent looking spacers - would be ok with them? (not sure how advisable spacers would be though)
So, am I looking at a lower offeset, to bring the wheels out? or should I be going for wider wheels?
I thought 9.5 would b pretty wide ;)
Cheers, James
Lookiong at the spreadsheet in the sticky thread it says that 18x8.5 front would require an offset of +38, and 18x19.5 rear would require +38 also...
So, the burnout wings stick out +20mm front and rear, so would these be better:

18x9 +22 Front
18x10 +22 Rear

Sounds like you have it all figured out :) Nice looking wheels too.
Maybe in theory, it will all look fine until I get the wheels.. get the tyres on them and find myself -2k and with wheels that dont fit properly! DOH DOH DOH!
Its funny, I remember when the picture of \'that\' burnout kitted rex did the rounds. Everyone was drooling. Now that is a fantastic wide bodied kit, nice and subtle, but I think what helped really make that car was the wheels - gorgeous. If you buy that kit you HAVE to get wheels to suit so you cant try to save money there. Those you have seen would look good I think.
I\'d say try to find a local with similar spec wheels and see what fits :)
If the car is ever near the midlands i\'ve got a pair of 9j et22\'s you could try, but i\'m sure someone local has some they wouldn\'t mind a test fit of?
Me like!
Nice wide rim, low off-set wheel in that style would look cracking with a burnout kit!
What colour is your car fella?
Chris
Yea, they are nice + over £100 cheaper a corner than the ones on the demo car....
Car is being painted at the moment.. apparantly im told its intense white with a spindrift laquer...
Should coem out something like this

You can see really subtle glitter bits... not really visible without a good light source..

Burnout kit on a white FD :InLove Look forward to seeing that in the flesh!
Well, if i ge tthe right wheels it should be ready this summer!
I\'ve rebuilt all the engine and everything, so once it comes out of the paint shop I just have to pray the when I get it started it doesnt set itsself onfire!
lol
I know.. I should have started it before taking it in for the paint job.. but I didnt have time I had to move house so it was easier with my car away!
:D How nervous will you be sitting in your car, hands on the ignition key, turning it to the accs position, hearing the fuel pump kick in - dare you turn the key that one step further? ;)
I will be careful! Ill gather some troops up and arm them with a set of fire extinguishers...
either that or just post pictures and pretend it runs... :)
Sounds like its going to look the part fella!
Paint effect looks similar to the Crystal flake I had in the basecoat on my last car. I think this was available in a rainbow flake too.
Good luck with the project, and dont forget those photees!
Chris
Got any pictures of your old car? :)
James
with refrence to the ultra lite taka s with burnout kit. this is exactly what i did. big miistake,
admittedly i had ran out of funds at the last thing. alloys.
they will make or break your car. 18" taka`s nowhere near big enough
you need 19*9 on front with say 20 et 19*10 rear with 30et
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25371
this was with it lowered by approx 2 " as well. see the arch gap. wider and deeper wheels needed
I appreciate the photos, very helpful...
I was hoping i could pull it of with 18s (something like 18x9 +22 Front, 18x10 +22 Rear)
I guess my cars going to handle like soggy marshmallow...
Everything i read about 19s say the car will behave incredibly bad on the road, I have not done anything to my suspension yet or setup, so maybe there is something i can add to my shopping list to improve this?
Cheers,
James

Aint got too many good ones bud, and its hard to show the crystal flake on what would have been a 3 meg pixel camera, lol, but here you go.
You can just see it on the corner of the rear wing and the front wings on the engine shot.
The colour I chose was an Ultramarine crystal over a brilliant blue base coat (Rage paints):

+ 38 is the standard FD size.
RE-Amemiya recommend +18 to +20 for the AD GT kit which is 20mm wider also.
in
18x9.5/8.5
Kind of makes sense.. + 20 = + 20......
Russ.
