Title: Fitting side skirts...
Post by: RedRummy on January 18, 2008, 09:32:07 PM
Hi,

I recently had my FD in the bodyshop for some cosmetic stuff, and they tried to fit some sideskirts I\'d bought.

Turns out they\'re advising me not to fit them because the fitment is so bad...

The bit that tucks in between the door and the sill cause the door to foul the skirt when it closes and the bit that wraps round the front wheel arch at the bottom is shaped in a kind of 90deg angle whereas the body is a nice smooth curve - so it doesn\'t fit tightly.

The bit that tucks in is pretty thin as it is - I don\'t see anyway a bit could fit in there and keep the door line nice and even..  :Hammer

When I force one bit to fit, another bit sticks out...

Are all sideskirts / kits like this or should it be like fitting a glove...

Cool, sounds good.... whats srb?

just bought some Chargespeed ones to replace them from www.lambodoorkits.co.uk (http://www.lambodoorkits.co.uk) of all places (need to act quick while the car is at the bodyshop!), and will sell these ones on Fleabay...

The part that sits inside the door line can be trimmed to sit flush on the door sill and blended in, so it looks part of the car and also keeps nice door shut lines.

As for the front arch it mite require some modification but nothing to serious that the bodyshop cant do.
