Title: Going big on a wide arch FD3
Post by: leeroy_25 on January 17, 2008, 09:01:35 PM
I may have located some awesome rims for my FD project. If you have been following you will know it is being fitted with a burnout wide arch kit that is about 20mm wider than stock either side. The rims I have seen are 18x10 fronts and 18x12 rears... This is monster I know but do we reckon they will fit okay? The offsets are 25 front and 35 rear?
Let me know guys..

I reckon if I was running 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 I would need about 20 offset front and possibly 25 rear if that helps?

Thank you
Lee

Im useless when it comes to this but I find this helps me a lot.  It will tell you how much more clearance on the inside and how far extended on the outside your new rims would be compared to stock :

Mine are 18x10 + 25 on the front. Run 255 and you will be ok JUST

Rears should be OK. With a widebody. Maybe the inner dimension will be tight but you could space them out.

I think Dcups has 11 or 11.5 on the rear no prob.

really? slightly o/t but I was hoping to run ET30 9.5\'s on the front w/ stock arches.. what size do you have up front? (assuming that\'s a rear wheel spec)

What\'s fitment like? rolled arches?

front is et 35 and not a problem however if its lowered - mine is on hks coilovers it may hit the lip of the arch on track days and hard conering but this will happen even with a stock offset 17" i think by look of most rx\'s ive seen.

My et35s not rub as such but may catch the same.

Not rolled front and fully rolled rear but NOT flared as i think it ruins the lines of the car.

your 30s on the front i would say would be ok and you can always just have a quick roll done. with et20s they are extreme lets say so on the rear you cannot not roll the arches.

I have Feed +20 mm guards.

Its the runing radius you need to worry about. I had to do some slight mods to the seams at the firewall.

Hmm. I just checked the offset.. They are actually 22 fronts and 31 rears. only a couple of mm I know but do we think we could still get away with it.. Has mega stretch on the tyres.. the fronts are on 245! and rears are 275..

Cheers

these sound like supra or Aristo tyre sizes.

They are pretty big.

275/40 your speedo will be out a little.

Compare tyre sizes here.

put 265 / 35 / 18 normal rear size

then put 275 / 40 / 18

As long as they fit that\'s not a problem!! I can always change the tyres at a later date..  But they must be running a lot of stretch to fit the rims which will in turn effectively lower the profile.. (decrease the roling circumference)
