Title: AAARRGGHH - B@#!*$D Interior.......
Post by: RussH on January 16, 2008, 08:58:21 PM
Before I loose my rag and break something, is there a knack to removing the plastic shroud around the instruments. I\'ve removed all of the screws I can see so that the bottom is loose but the upper part is rock solid.

Short of putting my foot on the dash and yanking hard and possibly breaking a load of clips, I\'m not sure where to go next.

Any ideas?

Cheers

if your talking about the speedo and rev cluster thats all it is remove the screws underneath were the nut ball blower is and take off the side trim near the check strap there s a screw in there to remove the ball blower panel then gently prize the binacle away from the dome and it comes forward towards the steering wheel failing that use a screw driver underneath and lever left side and right side alternatly should come off

is in a FD??

i had struggled the first time doing it, two screws either side at the bottom as above and i just lifted it up a bit and pulled forward, dont yank though or you will probably break the clips.

Hey...ascaudio to the rescue again!!:Thumbs-up

Yep it\'s am FD.
I\'ve removed all the screws as described and pull towards the steering wheel but it doesn\'t budge.

Where does the binacle come away? Near the front edge at the split line or near the windscreen/demist grill?

Cheers

When you take this out you will be removing the clocks, clock facia & the dome on top that sits on the main dash structure..... basicaly all you do is unscrew the 2 retaining screws underneath, then gently pull the cluster towards the wheel.... you might need to give it a little wiggle, then you will hear a click, then the whole thing can be pulled forward to disconect the wires.
