whats the t04e turbo like. what can it do. dragon haS GOT ONE FOR SALE
Its small and out dated, but on the right car can be very good, I run one on my yellow rx7 and at spa beat a diablo round the track and did a 12.6 sec at santa pod.
I wouldn\'t have said it was small, just depends on what you want the car to do. If you want all out power go for a bigger one. If you want a car thats drivable, and quick - then the T04e is a good turbo, even if its been replaced with the GT series. Ideal for the track I\'d say.
Best bet is to find out the trim and A/R\'s for the turbo then report back.
excuse my ignorance here - BUT
it is a simple case of removing a turbo and putting a t04e on instead or is there something i have missed ??
can someone please explain in laymans terms !
thanks
stu
Stu, when fitting a single turbo, you get to lose most of the rats nest (solenoids and pipes under in-let manifold), need a different down pipe and also require fuel and ECU upgrades.
Fish
i already run a single turbo ( its a 2nd Gen !! )
although its a twin scrolling one !
would i still need the downpipe and ECU and the such like
they dont make things simple on these cars do they !
I fitted a bigger garret turbo on my Turbo II, You will need to either modify your manifold (engine - turbo) as the flange on the stock turbo is unique, or you can buy a manifold that will take the common TO4 flange. You will need to modify the engine end of your exhaust to meet the newly positioned turbo.
A TO4 E would go very well on a TII, as long as you get the correct a/r ratios. I wouldnt go for less than 1.00 on the turbine (exhaust side). This is usually stamped in the casting of the turbine housing. (that is the rusty bit not the ally bit).
As for fuel, you could add extra injectors but then you would need extra fuel from the tank, (either bigger or extra pump). and some way of metering the fuel. You can buy extra injector controllers, this little lot would cost a lot of money if you couldnt do it your self. with the money you would spend you could sell the TII and by a third gen. It would still be quicker than a modified TII,
decisions decisions.............. hope this helps.
there isnt a decision really - i wouldnt have a 3rd gen !!
getting all to common now ! - just like scobbies - every man and his dog has one
i prefer the TII as not many on the road , plus they are less hassle than a 3rd gen when they go wrong

Bloody hell Stu, how can you say "like scobbies" A chinesse burn for you my friend at the Mascrat :P (but i know where your coming from)
YES TII are easier to work on in stock like for like terms, life is much easier to work with when you convert the FD to single.
Grizzly will have a nice turbo to have a look at soon, that aint small ;)
what i meant it they every man and his dog were getting scoobies ( well a few years ago ) and now every one is getting FD\'s
although i must admit i was looking for one about 2 yrs ago :)
and chinese burn hurt like hell :(
