Title: back seat
Post by: ratty_ratty on January 15, 2008, 02:42:24 PM
i have a problem with my back seat\'s

right the backing for the back seat was flapping about the other day so i had a look

i found that the bar for the catch to catch onto was taken off

so i thought ill fit it back on

but i can not figur out where the two bars go as there are no bolt holes on the turret where i think there ment to go

can some one please put some pictures up of the fitting please so i can see what i am missing

thanks for your time people

Have you taken the cover off? There should be a covered bit on the side of the rear suspension turret where the cover can come off and the clip can bolt onto the turret.

HTH,
Mark

OK, is you\'re an R2 model that didn\'t come with back seats?

Mine was the same and I had to drill and tap 2 holes each side for the brackets to mount to.

It should have if it\'s an R2 inside the door.

is this the car i fitted the rear seats to as rotor stock? if so the brackets were supplied to the owner and he was told to drill/tap holes as there wasn\'t any fixings.

R2\'s had the nicer seats, not cloth / suede, kinda a mottled material. Then the beizels around the gauges (speedo / techo etc) are a gloss black rather than silver, also had rear bins instead of seats.

I htink thats about it TBH.

Sorry, on the clocks I mean the little lip before the cowling becomes the gauge / glass IYSWIM, on earlier cars I think it\'s chrome, on the R2\'s it\'s black.

In the picture you can see the black beizels, they\'re shiney so look like metal in parts but are all black plastic.

Also you can see the seats, they\'re mottled type.

Not too sure if there\'s anything else, most things are the same as the R model, not sure if it\'s on the VIN plate in the engine bay. But TBH if you\'ve not got the holes for the brackets then it probably is.

What year is the car? I also think R2\'s were 94 onwards or something around that.

Yeah, the standard seats of an R2 are like that... I think they\'re nicer (of course I would!)

Just remembered another thing, the R2 came from the factory without a rear wiper or any buttons for this so another way to tell (except that they can be removed!)

that is so "G*Y" cause i do not have that bolt hole for the brack to go on its flush all round the susspension turret.

might as well rip the seats out mighten i lol

ah well.

any idea where i can get the storage bins from then if i was to remove the seats??

thanks for your time

oh and i do have the covers but i might keep them incase i do decide to drill and tap the turret to have the seats secured

It\'s an easy job to mount the brackets, it\'s not as if there will be a lot of pressure on them as they only stop the back of the seat falling forwards (still trying for the covers here:evillaugh)
Bins would be around £250 up if you can find some.

Yeah, bins are expensive... I still have mine but not sure I want to get rid of them as if I do sell the car it\'d be nice to do so with both the seats and the bins ;)

But yeah, peice of p*$$ to drill and tap, or take it to a mechs who\'ll do in 30 minutes (while I ar$ed about a bit too much). Also if you do, just take your time measuring where the holes go ;)
