In my bid to find a relatively well priced Rex (around six grand) I\'m starting to feel like i\'m shovelling snow uphill to be honest! I\'ve found so many, but the owners have given me no reason not to tell them where to go. One guy couldn\'t produce a compression report, another told me the rebuild had been done in Japan before but couldn\'t find the proof (three guys so far have said the same thing), another lad had a Rex with a beautifully put together engine, receipts, rebuild etc, but the thing had a budget bodykit on it and I was quoted nearly a grand to have it taken off and returned to normal, paint etc. ?! a handful more have just made me naturally wary and very sceptical, without putting too fine a point on it.
Then I found a dealer who gave me a list of really nice examples, two of which I was really excited about! The right price range, the right colour, recent rebuilds, plenty of pictures and all the rest of it so i\'ve been sleeping well the last couple of nights thinking, "well, it\'s finally going to happen!" So half an hour ago I take the guys\' company name from an email and Google it... Transcars?
Here\'s the interesting part, the link Google gives me at the top of the page isn\'t the Transcars webpage but [SIZE=-1]mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33037
So. Is this the modus operandi of Transcars? Or was this one instance just an unlucky little one off?
I will ask the gentleman who has emailed me also, and do some more ground work before I commit to buying from these guys ( I will proceed with caution ) but for the time being i\'d just like to know if anyone else has dealt with these guys and if so, please let me know how it went.
Whatever rex I put my money on is going to be the last car I will ever buy, and not the kind of machine I want to buy from a cowboy.
Cheers.

I noticed you said you are in hampshire on another thread, my car will be for sale as soon as Carl has finished a couple of jobs. Its currently at hayward rotary which can\'t be that far from you. I would be looking for 6500 to 7000 for it.
It has 2000 miles on a rebuild with cwest front, racing beat skirts and veilside spats in montego blue. Ive spent about 4k on this recently but may be changing jobs to go abroad so that is the reason for sale
I believe that Transcars is Freddy\'s trading name, he isn\'t a registered trader here, but there are several members who have bought from him. There have been positive and negative posts about them (same as most car traders!) do a search here for transcars and you should get a feel for general concensus - I\'ve met Freddy several times, seems like a genuine guy and I have no reason to mistrust him, but I\'ve had no commercial dealing with Transcars
I\'ll echo the above, whenever ive met Freddy he seems to be a very knowledgeable and friendly guy. He\'s imported quite a few FDs.
If you are having trouble finding choice, why not speak to the vendors who advertise with MRC. many of them will either have FDs for sale or could point you in the right direction.
Also, dont forget the many MRC owners cars that are forsale through this very club!
Its a buyers market at the mo, so you can take your time and get a good one :)

I had the same problem, so I imported my own!!! :Thumbs-up
But then again, I know this opens a completely different can of worms. But I found it a worthwhile choice. :Laugh
I want to make sure i get a good one, i\'d really like a Single from the off but i don\'t think my budget of 8k will cut the mustard for a decent single.
There are a few on pistonheads around that mark but they have odd histories, i.e no history of engine rebuilds but the owner lists in the ad that they do.
Wasn\'t there a big thing about Transcars / Freddy?? Don\'t know how it ended??

After reading that i would stay well clear of transcar! buy from someone on here, you will know the car has been treated right.
RX Motors in Blandford usually have a couple of cars for sale.
TBH there are loads of Good dealers out there, the two importers that jump into my head are Newera and jm-imports, i know people that have bought cars off them and have been more tham happy with the end product.
It also helps to look here;

The dipute detailed above has been dealt with the member in question. We were never wholly to blame for what had actually happned. However, without wanting to drag in other companies who also are active on the rotary forums and make a blast from the past. I would just say that at times, it helps to know the full extent on the circumstances before jumping to quick judgements as seen by the flippent comment of flash76.
Grizzly, you yourself had been to see me and saw what was on offer at the time. There are also many here who have met me and know me on a personal level.
Anyway guys, hope that helps.
Freddy.
ok freddy im very sorry, im sure there are two sides to every story. was not my place to say anything bad about you.
Why didn\'t you put up a fight then????
TBH i thought you where a sound guy but i\'ve also met a Guy called Mark Langford who was also a nice guy and he turned out to have ripped people off and watched his wife die in a Hire car??? so i\'m not the best judge? Plus have i met you? i came to your place but the guy i met was not freddy?????

Regarding the first point, I had numerous chats with Clive & Glenn regarding the issue and anyone out there who has owned or owns a business will tell you that there are always some people who are unhappy (just like yours in the car painting business). After the conversations with mods here - in the end it was best to save my side in case of any legal actions. That said, I felt it shouldn’t have affected me as the whole situation was more complex than the simplicity of the post by the member. Either Glenn, Clive, Gurj can clarify this matter.
Regarding your second point;
How dare you draw parallel’s to the work of former TAG boss. That is wholly abhorrent as it bears no resemblence. It would seem you are right to say that you are not a good judge of character at all.
Whether you thought or you think. You knew or you know that I am a sound guy or not I can not deduce the reasoning for whichever you meant. However, we have met on a few occasions and I have also met you at times with Grinder at the Mascrat Meet.
This is one of the e mails you sent me after seeing the RZ at mine;

Freddy. Your right the Rz you have just sold really is what Rx7\'ns are about. That\'s one nice looking car. Anyway after seeing that RZ i\'ve decided i need to do more saving :) I can\'t quite put my finger on it but there\'s some thing about the later FD\'s i prefer. Cheers Chris

We have met and we have conversed. Whether you accept it or not.
I hope that clears things up folks. :)

+1
I once let a customer drive round in a really high grade RX7 for a weekend so that he would be happy with putting his money into buying the car. He came back on the monday with a list a mile long, of let me just say absolutely ridiculous content.... Including how disgusted he was that he\'d had to put £30 of petrol in there for all the driving he did over the weekend....!!! and even wanted me to re-imburse him for it!!!!!....!!!
Lets just say I learnt my lesson that day and told him were to go...
When it all boils down to it you are buying a second hand car, it\'s always going to be a risk, no matter how good the car appears on the surface.
If anyone wants total piece of mind go buy a new car from a dealer and be done with it.

First off, Thanks for putting my Name and Email on the net, Yep i came to your Place and saw the Black fd, but at the time i thought i was talking to a Third party as you didn\'t say you where Freddy but some one else?? (Remember the guy who was with me, well he can vouch for this) Then at a later date i found out who you where (Mascrat i belive when Stu said hears Freddy in his FD)
But hey at the end of the day everyone has there opinion, for every bad you must have many good customers that can vouch right???

Sorry this was Sarcasm.... Yep of cause i met you maybe not knowing at the time but after a saw you a few times at the Mascrat??
Of cause i know all about bad Customers, I use to work very hard to keep them Happy... But a sign is where you never responded?? If you had there would be an Explanation on that thread??? NO???
I think we should get back to helping the guest and not scratching old scabs.

^ well said Thank you.
Lawler, First of i apologizes for messing up your thread and the outburst.
OK to Business, what sort of thing are you looking for???? and what sort of price range, At the moment its a Buyers market so Fd\'s seem to spen a bit of time For sale, so that said haggle... you will get a better deal, but as for engines etc you are right asking for rebuild proof etc, I spent months looking for the perfect FD for me and in the end i bought one that had engine problems and had it rebuilt (so i knew exactly what the history of the engine was).
I have a few friends that bought Fd\'s and i found very quickly that people fall in love with the looks and forget the short comings. So my advise being an owner and have gone through it all is hold out for the FD that does it for you, one will come.
for a real piece of mind, get them to bring it to pip at wgt and have a complete check over on:
compression check,
water system pressure check,
wiring, electric voltage check, and general bits like bushes .........
wish someone had told me that when i bought mine, its not until 3 years n 2 engines later did i finally find out what is wrong with the car :(
just to add, i\'ve known freddy for over 2 years now and cant fault the guy at all. go give him a visit and have a look at his collection of rexs, im sure he\'ll work something out for you.
