Title: mytyres
Post by: flash76 on January 14, 2008, 07:21:34 PM
Have spent a long time looking for the right tyres, last night i ordered some 245/35/18 and 295/30/18 falken 452s from mytyres, was gona cost me nearly £600.

when i got home today i checked my emails and i had one from mytyres asking me for proof of id and address, they said i could fax them my gas bill or something.

i emailed them back saying that for a start i dont have a fax machine and i dont have time to go look for one, and all the bills are not in my name as i live with my parents.

so they sent me an email back saying they cant send the tyres unless i send them something like my frickin driving licence :Grrr

sorry to post this random moan on here but ALL I WANTED WAS SOME DAMN TYRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have p[urchesd a lot of stuff for my car on the internet, from japan and america and never had a problem so not sure why mytyres need id proof!?!?
can anyone recomend somewhere else to get tyres from?

I\'ve used them twice with no problems, and they have saved me a good deal of money with their prices, with fast delivery.
Never had to send any ID and certainly wouldn\'t if asked. Sounds strange to me when you\'re paying upfront why they would need these details.

they said it was part of the data protection act, not sure if it was just a random thing or if they do it to everyone who pays by credit card now.

im sure there a good company, but just ****ed me off at the time as i wanted the tyres quick.

never mind, got the tyres from somewhere else now..............:)

Not sure why they would need these details, I certainly won\'t be buying if they expect my personal details from now on.
Am putting an order through in a month or so, as have just ordered a full turbo back exhaust system (priorities!!!) and will post with the results.

Sounds like they\'ve been ripped by a card company or similar. Are they trying to lose customers???
If anyone knows the guy\'s from Mytyres, would be good to get their side :Typing as they were fantastic the times I used them and it seems a shame that there seems to be so many issues trying to get orders processed by them now.

I have used mytyres in the past with no problems, but like Phil has said, they have probably had credit card fraud problems and have tightend up payment methods to avoid this happening again.  Only problem is if you make it to difficult, people cant be bothered a look elsewhere.

Mark did a seach and found a place called jettyres which worked out cheaper so might be worth a try if your still having problems.
