Just wondering what the biggest single turbo i could fit comfortably in my FD3s. i already have the t03, and was thinking of upgrating to the t04, but was just wondering if anything bigger may suit :-s preferably i would like to use my existing manifold and downpipe from the t03 :)
You can get a to4 to t51r adaptor plate i think.
If your manifold is T3 footprint you would need a new one with T4 to fit a decent tub, or one of the bigger like T51 or T88 which have their own footprint so would get a kit.
doh, should have just got that in the first place!! :-s may have to stick with my t03 for time being then!! is the t04 the biggest you can fit on there without modifying too much?
A lot will depend on the T3 Turbo you have now, if it has an external wastegate your O/K to fit a TO4 or any other Turbo that has a T3 flange or from memory I think we do an adaptor from T3 to T4,
If your present Turbo incorperates a wastegate control then the above will be a lot more complicated
If you have an external wastgate and your serious I beleive we can supply you with a GT35/40 with a T3 flange O/K which is perfect for any FD as personaly I would not try and adapt anything bigger than a GT45 onto your manifold.

luckily mine runs on an external wastegate :) so sounds as though a t04 should (hopefully) bolt straight on!?

T04 is just a generic turbo footprint, its like saying I own a Mazda. A T04 could be small or could be very big - it means little. Your T03 could be some ****y little thing - or it could be a GT35/40 in which case its about perfect for a road car, cause similarly T03 means nothing in describing the size of one T03 foot-printed turbo from another.
The limiting factors as to what other turbos you could fit will be:
a) the manifold design (is there enuff physical space to fit big(ger) front/rear housings between the LIM and the chassis (without resorting to spacing stuff)? is it going to flow enuff?) and,
b) if you\'re willing to modify bits eg your existing down pipe etc as its possible that a different turbo will have a differently aligned/positioned exhaust outlet, youll need a T3 to T4 adaptor if you go to a T04 etc.
The GT3540/GT35R/GT3582 or whatever you want to call it was originally T3 only so should be available from any Garrett dealer for reasonable money and would be your best bet imo. Good 350atw, 400 with more boost - other mods dependant ofc.
