Do I win a prize? :wiggle
Anyway, i\'ve found the car I really want and can afford etc and the guy at the shop tells me it hasn\'t been stripped/rebuilt but has compression figures there. i asked him to scan the figure sheet and email them to me but he just typed the in and sent them to me that way.
Sooo, compression figures are:
front.
7.55
7.6
7.5
rear.
7.70
7.70
6.40
Whoops, is that 6.4 at the bottom a little hint of drastic future hard shoulder involvement or a possible coupla grands\' worth of rebuild? Or is it pretty normal?
Im no expert, but if it was me buying it, i would want figures all around the same values.
Although as ive learnt the hard way, high compression figures doesnt always mean it will last a long time. Mine lasted 4 days with similar readings.
I would buy one that has a recent rebuild, full history and one that has been well looked after to try and avoid £££££ and heart ache matey.
1.3 bar is quite a difference.
What would cause just 1 chamber to be lower - would it be something like a stuck side seal?
Well throw me a coconut, i\'ve only just found the for sale section on this site :rollin I\'ll knock the mysterious compression one on the head and buy from a member I think, least this way I know where to go if something goes wrong, and I know they\'re well cared for too.
Cheers guys, i\'ll steer clear.
Couldnt have put it better myself fella, get one off here and you know they have been well treated :)
Also if you search on the forum you can see the threads for that user and see what they have done to their car and any probs theyve had!

sensible idea i would walk away from that low reading- virtualy even readings all 6 are a pretty good sign of health
totally agree but then would like to know how they got the readings, call his bluff and ask how the readings were obtained as few people have the correct checking device. Either a mazda dealer or someone thats obtained one. You can always get him to photo the actual test and they should be exactly the same as what he gave you as long as it was done when the engine was hot.
Hi Lawler,
Can you drop me an e mail please mate on; fc3smaniac@googlemail.com
Thanks :)

lol. His "scanner wasn\'t working". That to me stinks a bit: if a professional dealer can\'t find means to get proper proof of a compression test which could result in a six grand sale then i\'m out.
EDIT: dropped you a line chief. I\'m crunk-king@hotmail.com (crunk-king@hotmail.com)

Exactly! And this is a blinding spot for info.
i brought my car on the basis of exterior and interior condition.
and then budgetted for a rebuild.
As then when (notice that word when lol) it does let go, i have a completely mint car, engine and body etc.
Its just another way to look at things, as buying a 7k car tha blows makes it a 9-10k car. but buying a 4-5k car makes it a 6-8k car with everything knowingly ok by yourself.
