Title: Tein Super Streets
Post by: Gatesy on January 09, 2008, 09:33:25 AM
I\'ve got a set of Tein Super Streets which I\'ve had for about 12 months sitting doing nothing.
I\'ve got the set without the top mounts and just wondered if I will have any problems fitting them without the top mounts?

Aftermarket  top mounts are designed to stop the top of the strut wandering around,

The Tein top mounts can be brought seperatly for £180 plus vat a set, however  you can strip your struts and use the standard top mounts if you wish as they will fit O/K

Hope this helps

Thinking of it will I need anything special to do this?  Got the usual set of tools, jack, axle stands but just wondered if theres anything special I\'ll need.
Also will I need to get a full wheel alignment done straight afterwards?

Providing you adjust the height of your car so it\'s about the same height as it is now then you will not need a geometry check/adjust carried out

You will need a pair of coil spring clamps to take the old struts apart.

Cool I\'ll hopefully have a pop at these this weekend.
I\'ll try and do some pics of before and afterwards.

If you want to fit Super Street top mounts at a later date you will also have to get new springs as well. This bumps the cost up quite a bit.

Got superstreets on mine and dont think the ride is harsh at all.  The helper springs really....ur...help!  Then again, whin I fitted them my previous setup was completly goosed! :Giggle

Not going to upgrade to topmounts just want a decent set of suspension on there.  Got to many other things I want done and not enough cash to do it all.

bad roads defo don\'t help. wide, low-profile tyres seems to jar at even the slightest surface change. I find with my superstreets that the springs are v. hard so the damping has to be set reasonably high in order to stop you bouncing around the road which in turn makes the ride a little harsh. It feels like a good setup tho - I can\'t wait for the warmer months to see what the grip is like!
