Post by: B9 KLF on January 06, 2008, 10:20:48 PM
Is it poss to turn off the turbos from the hand held commander so that car can be run in valet mode, and, how is it done and is it safe if taken onto the road?

AFAIR you can\'t set the boost pressure below the wastegate spring pressure so no, you can\'t just turn them off.

Actually you may be able to set a lower boost pressure but it won\'t help because then the boost will be controlled by the wastegate spring.

Anything is possible if you really want to make it happen,

If you had a flap valve made to add into an intercooler pipe and were able to open the valve so it vented to atmosphere then you would have no boost at all, making the engine into a normally aspirated engine,

Americans used to run cable operated flap valves in the exhaust system so instead of the exhaust going out through the quiet main system it became diverted out of the side of the completely open so there\'s no reason a devise like this cant be made to go into the intercooler pipes to stop your turbos having any effect.

Valet mode .............. is that on the PFC ?

I have only ever had work done on my car once by a non rotary specialist when I had my rear diffuser welded back on after it dropped off on the motorway ........ :2Confused  ......... well part dropped off.

When they started it up to get it off the ramp, the guy obviously put his foot hard down on the accelerator as he started it up and revved the b*llocks off it.

Wouldnt an easy way to be to force the car into "limp" mode? by disconecting an easy to get at sensor, hell you could even put a switch in there so you just break the circuit. That would scare the "£&( out of any idiot who tried to rev your car.

Restricting the revs sounds the best solution for a valet mode then. Anyone know how to do that on the commander?

go to settings then rev/idle and set max revs to what you desire.

even if you dont have a commander it is possible to bridge to pin holes on the commander socket to limit it to 3k without damaging the engine or electrics.

Excellant, sounds like a plan.

Thanks
