Title: FD cigar lighter and stereo - it\'s not the obvious fuse...
Post by: declasm on January 04, 2008, 04:21:01 PM
ok so i\'ve been wiring up my new boost gauge today and I went and blew something - I had one ignition +12V off the cigar lighter, ground off the cigar lighter and dash lights off the cigar lighter lamp. in a moment of idiocy i let the dangling wires short together - this blew the "TAIL" fuse (fusebox G - 2nd column, 2nd row) which took out dash lights so I replaced it and they came back and then I assumed it blew the "CIGAR" fuse too (fusebox O - 5th column, 5th row) but it didn\'t - the fuse seems fine - as do all the others (I checked them just in case!) is there another fuse / relay for this circuit as it\'s stopping my stereo, lighter and electric mirrors from working! grr please someone help!

Have you checked the "Room" fuse and the "Audio" in the engine bay ?

I\'m going to double check everything tomorrow - if i can\'t find where it\'s blown I guess I can check the continuity with my multimeter and then put a new wire in somewhere.

problem with jap cars is the power feeds are never very thick and wont take a liking to many extras being put on to curcits so id sugest running in a fat power cable to a buzz bar or new fuse box and having clean feeds for all your bits and bobs

cheers for the advice guys - actually i\'m a fool because I was in fact looking at the wrong fuse - yesterday I looked at all the fuses except the ones in the fifth column! - I couldn\'t see them because the trim was obscuring my view!
