Title: passenger front indicator and sidelight dead
Post by: ashc on January 02, 2008, 08:46:34 PM
i\'ve had a strange fault with my indicators, and i\'m still stuck after searching!

the alarm used to pip all the indicators when being set or unset, but a while back only pipped the drivers side indicators. However, the passenger side indicators still worked and so did all the lights when hazard button pressed, so i kinda ignored it.

today, i noticed the passenger front sidelight was out, and changed the bulb but no joy. Later on, when indicating left, the front passenger indicator is out now, but the side indicator and back indicator flash double speed. The drivers side lights are fine.

i figure it could be a dodgy vampire clip from the alarm install - it cant be a ground as the side indicator is fine?

Any ideas where/how to hunt for the problem please?
thanks

ash

if the indicator works when you use the stork but not on the alarm check the out put from the alarm might be fused to the indicators and the side light sounds like a bad earth i had the same fault with the side light and water inside the plastic clip had corroded the wire just soldered them instead

clips should never be used on an alarm they supose to be soldered so they cant be tampered with mate check the installation sounds doggy

thanks chaps!
i will have a good look and a play with my multitester in the daylight.
the indicator doesn\'t work at all or the white driving lamp on the passenger side so it may be the earth somewhere up the chain i suppose. I\'m slightly concerned it might be a dodgy connection under the dash where all the alarm stuff goes, not in the engine bay though.

sorted it - it was a corroded plug behind the light cluster, the earth wasn\'t connecting. I took the pins out of the plug and cleaned them with emery paper and stuck it all back together and its fine :-)
cheers!
