Hi all,
Does anyone know what\'s involved in this and is the rear window bonded or not?
I have the seal and clips (Malloy Mazda are good!) but need this doing as my seal is completely shot at the bottom and has been letting in water for rather a long time now.
Any thoughts?
Ta :)
Paul.
think there bonded bud, best bet is a pro come to yer door effort, costs about £60 per window.
Ta for that :) I\'ll check my insurance to see what happens if something gets broken!
may be worth your while talking to a window fitter first, allot of bonded screen rubbers can be removed and refitted without taking the glass out (all depends how much sealer was used to fit it originally as it oozes out the sides and glues the seal in place too)
Cheers again :) I\'ll check my local places and see what they say.
the rear window on the fd is bonded mate the seal just over laps we just replaced a friends i have a buddy in the windy screen house if you need some help >;)

Oddly enough I\'ll be down in Wootton Bassett at the end of the month :) I\'ll see what happens up here.

Cheers matey, I have the window seal and the 2 little clips from Mazda so that should all be sorted :)
just remember to let the sealant go off before moving the car or opening the tail gate the glass will pop out again due to air pressure if not dry >:)

Would the window leak in water if the weather seal had not been stuck down (or would the bonding do that?)
Reason I ask is I discovered I got a leak into my boot now too!
the bonding of the glass to tail gate should stop leaks sounds like a gap somewhere
Mmmm thanks for confirming that. I have a part of the weather seal which bulges up so I guess (as you also say) that there is no bonding here and thus no stuck down on weather seal?
My seal is pulled apart at the bottom so the water gets into the boot lid then works it way through to the car.

In your case you will find your screen will have not been fitted correctly (not even bead of sealer around the window so it leaks) the only other thing it could be is rust and i think you would have noticed that.
Are you sure its not the boot seal its self?
Well it\'s the big rubber seal that goes all the way around the window and there\'s a big hole where the two ends join at the bottom of the windscreen. I\'ll try and have a check tomorrow as it\'s p*ssing it down at the moment :)
It\'s never been replaced over here as it still has some Japanese stickers on the window.
Normaly in the case of water leaks if it hasn\'t been there from new its usally one of two things 1. a Blockage in drain pipes, water seals are only designed to cope with passing water, if you leave them to soak (ie.when its stood submerged) it will find its way under the seal. 2. gromits not being replaced or failing due to age (they crack) also one that falls into this catogry is things not being replaced or removed properly (a comon one is the big gromit in the Fire wall thats pulled out when you do a rebuild and often not replaced properly)
As i say if the screen has not been out in its past its very unlikely the last owners have let it go for the last 12 years +. A car usaly smells really bad if its had a Water leak for any length of time as it doesn\'t have anywhere to drain off to.
Had mine replaced during the summer, they only charged me £60 for doing the rubbers on the front and back screens, that included the rubbers as they had rubbers in stock that fitted perfectly.

3 . It getting in under the spoiler. Where the spoiler sits on the boot, put some silicone between the boot and the spoiler.
Cheers again guys...Martin I just did this as I was going to go bare arsed but there is too much of a mess under there :) The rubbers have definitely gone so I\'ll see if I can find if it\'s coming through or not.
