Hey all,
Just finally getting some time to really look at WTF is happening with my water loss, it now a small amount each time, so I was thinking it was drawing air into the system.
I pressurised the system again and the only place I could hear anything from was the cap on the AST, just a small and faint whistle, so put some fairy on it and to my surprise it was leaking from the small pin in the top of the rad cap (so that the spring can rotate).
So swapped for another one which was fine and everything held pressure. Happy days thought I :D
So put a sprung cap on the filler point, start it up, let it run for a wee while, get everything up to temp and check I\'ve put everything back etc...
Then I notice that water it coming out of the filler cap, from the pin rotating pin!!!! Now surely this point should be air tight? And the sticker on the top shouldn\'t be all there is holding everything in???
Sorry for the long post but it seems weird to me! Very weird!!!
And does anyone have a non-sprung cap I can get over the next few days etc? Happy to come and collect.
Cheers,
Mark
Mark, I think that cap is just a plain old cap you can get from halfrauds.
By the way, what pressure did you test to, please?
I can\'t seem to get that cap from my local Halfords, they all kind of point at the book and dribble a bit (good job it\'s laminated!!!).
The non sprung caps seem to be really hard to find in my neck of the woods.
Sadly the pump I was using the gauge wasn\'t very accurate at lower pressures, so I know I could pump it up until the pressure cap opened, released the excess and then held it there so pretty sure it was ~13psi, unless the cap spring is weak of course ;)
