Title: Anyone else running a Motec M800?
Post by: Roundabout-Now on February 22, 2004, 10:42:22 PM
Just curious as I have odds and ends of questions about the 800 (including nitrous control and full throttle gear shifts)?

Not meany are running the M800 due to cost in the UK. Might be worth posting this on the AusRotary (http://www.ausrotary.com) forums.

As`far as I am aware there are only 3 cars in uk running 800\'s. You, me and Phil. My car is not tuned yet so cant comment and Phils is being done and not yet finished, so OZ may answer your questions better, but yes 800 can control noz and if you have traction control and launch control you can do f throttle changes, as I have this set up in my car using the 800 and used to have it in my other RX but was an motec M4pro, but still had its capabilities. A motec can be configured to do what ever the capabilities of the tuner is capable of.

I\'d checked out a few sites that mentioned that the m800 can do nitrous, traction control and full throttle shifts - just wasn\'t sure if full throttle shifts were such a good  idea or not?

IIRC traction control tends to just cut the fuel to the engine - does this mean you are risking it running lean and causing detonation?

Going to browse the aussie forum now and see what they say. Quiet day at the shop:D

MoTeC can do a number of different things with traction control, it can cut ignition, or cut fuel, or do both.

Generally speaking traction control isn\'t too bad on the engine, but launch control can be - if used excessively.

I\'m in Oz myself and can get all of your questions on the M800 answered if you like - just let me know what they are.  I\'m in a workshop tomorrow with guys that specialise with MoTeC.

.ps Great to see you have the pink beast.
