Title: Water Seals?
Post by: Wombat-007 on December 18, 2007, 06:19:24 PM
Hey guys, need a bit of advise please.
I topped up the oil on my 92 and noticed the dreaded "mayonaise" deposits on the inside of the filler cap. Well, to be more precise, only a small amount in the threads of the cap.

Is this the end of the seals or are there other reasons these deposits may be there? The car starts every time, hot and cold, and runs strong.

Thanks for any help.

PHEW!  Thanks Martiny. Am saving to get the entire suspension/rear wheel bearings done. Dying engine would have been the final nail at the moment.
Am looking to get the lump rebuilt with a street port sometime next year, but no way can I afford it right now.

Cheers Dude
:cheers

You are more likely to get more mayo in cold weather I think. Also happens more if you do a few short journeys.
