Title: Some exhaust help please
Post by: Colin on December 17, 2007, 11:48:13 AM
My standard twin pipes back box has now got a hole in it, causing some popping back.  I have never liked the standard twin pipes on the rx, but dont want a massive fast and the furious jap can, although some look good. What would you guys suggest?

*Also dont want something really loud

thanks guys

I think the Mazadaspeed system is subtle and not that loud.

As already mentioned, the above are all very good quiet exhausts.

If your interested, I have a very nice RE-Amemiya Dolphin Exhaust available for sale.

Regards,
Martin

Hi martin, having looked at the RE-Amemiya Dolphin Exhaust online i think it looks awful, do you have any mazdaspeed or racing beat boxes in stock?

Sorry, no mazdaspeed or racing beat ones at the moment.  I will go trough the stock tomorrow and see what else would suit your needs.

Other than the the RE-Amemiya Dolphin Exhaust, the only other one that should be OK is a 5zigen as seen in this picture, second from bottom.

I have 5Zigen fitted to another FD I have here are they seem a nice quiet back box.

The Kakimoto with twin silencers (also in the picture) might also be of interest.

I\'m running a 5Zigen box, as I need the car to be quiet enough to pass the 98db test at Donington (which it does).

When Pip mapped the car, he said it was more restrictive than the previous one I had on (a massive can and very loud), but I\'ve no idea how it compares on that front to other quiet boxes.

The 5Zigen doesn\'t do much in the way of popping and banging (although flames have been known to escape), which is a shame, but it looks OK and seems good quality. Don\'t have any pics I\'m afraid.

Im running a single tip Racing Beat, lovely sound but not too loud. I think its more restrictive than most but im running 500hp(ish) with no problems. Also the design makes it look very neat and tidy, no mahoosive rear can!

+1 for racing beat! ... subtle looks and a decent, not too loud tone :chat

afaik, a less restrictive exhaust will cause higher boost levels and/or boost creep without a remap.

Correct me if I\'m wrong...
