Title: Exhausts/ECU\'s help! - standard sizes and stuff??
Post by: robedwards99 on December 16, 2007, 09:22:39 PM
I know most of this has been asked before but I\'ve had a trawl and can\'t find definetive answers..

Can someone advise me as to the diameter of the standard FD exhaust?

I think mine is stock apart from the cat back which is 5Zigen.

Possibly looking to put a complete new system or part system and wonders what size I should be looking for if I replace part of the system as there seem to be lots of different sizes quoted on aftermarket gear.

Also, what would you recommend. Looking for a bit more power but keeping to reasonable noise levels.

I know de-cat will give me more power, do I neeed a remap if I decat, or should I ask is it the best idea if going for more power??

Also what ECU?? Have Apexi finally stopped making the PFC and what has replaced it??

Thanks in advance.
Rob.

not sure on size.
a decat will give more power and will require a remap to keep levels in check.
PFC - not sure as they seem to be having lots of problems with them at the mo.

They\'ve discontinued certain models, but i believe they still make them for fd3s. The reason they\'re hard to get hold of at the moment is they are selling for under £400 with a commander.

Hi Rob,

If you want a Silenced midpipe, the best on the market for flow and keeping things quiet is the feed silenced pipe. your backbox is more than capable as it is, so wouldn\'t touch it.
For the sort of power you are looking for I would recommend you went the power fc route, good user feedback from the commander for engine temps etc, also gives fault diagnosis (would have spotted the air temp sensor straight away) you will get more power and better economy, WIN WIN :Thumbsup!

Ive just fitted a Dragon system on a stock TT and very impresed with sound and low noise level.

Im pretty sure that standard exhaust bore is 2.5".  Most people would suggest a 3" system & an Apexi PFC.  Deffinately helps to have the midpipe scilenced so I would deffinately go that option too :)

Cheers Chris. I\'ve had to have a weld done on the back box already as it was cracked so thinking about a new one too.

Out of interest what was the price and what parts were replaced?
