Title: High / Eratic Idle
Post by: Bunggle on December 14, 2007, 01:17:31 PM
Hi folks :)

My FD is idling at between 2-3k, and moving up and down between that all the time.

I\'ve had a bit of a search through here and it seems like the problem is likely to be a vacuum hose problem, is that right? If so, does anyone know where I can get a set cheap?

If that\'s not the problem, any other ideas?

Thanks :D

check your map sensor is connected as it sounds like it has come off.

it is a little black box with a vacuum hose and electrical connector on it on the fire wall. normally made by denso. between upper inlet manifold and abs pump.

Most likely a vacuum hose tucked away somewhere.

You can buy kits of all the various hose sizes but there are a hell of a lot of them if your not single turbo, its not called the rats nest for nothing

On a darker note the engine could have popped, but hopefully not

search tps mate sounds like that.

if you have done anything at all to the car recently undo it.

Yeah, I have put an induction kit on, but it was ok to start with. Thanks mate :)

Coming back to this after a LONG time as I\'ve been lazy...

Checked TPS and all voltages were in range except 3F ECU which was a little high. Unfortunately couldn\'t get bottom screw undone to adjust the TPS, so no result yet. In the process of this though, I did find that if I disconnect the map sensor, the fast idle drops to around 8-900 - much better! Is this normal? Am I safe leaving it disconnected?

Thanks again,
Kym

Weird, couldn\'t see a way to edit my last post...

When I say I disconnected the map sensor, of course I didn\'t. What I meant was I disconnected the vacuum hose going into it.
