Title: Golf GT TDI query...
Post by: prince_of_tokyo on December 12, 2007, 06:51:08 PM
ello peeps,

sorry about this, but am wondering if anyone can help me with a little sniggle...

Aswell as an FD, i also drive a \'normal\' car which is a 2003 GT TDI 150ps VW Golf...recently the boost has started kicking in really late at around 3000-3500 rpm rather than around 1500rpm as it used to making it very very sluggish low down...diagnostics show no faults and was wondering if anyone has ever come across any probs like this??? i thought it was due to a well overdue service but i have just had a service and its still there...

Thanks :D

could it be due to the variable vane geometry not working in the turbo, it could be stuck in the higher setting?? Thats if it has one of these turbos.

Just a thought.

Nige

hmm not to sure. even if it is this prob at all. There would be some kind of system, air or electronic, to move these \'vanes\', this might cause the problem. Im sure someone with more knowledge about this will help.

Cheers

I think you meant to say:

"as well as my NORMAL car, I also drive a golf"

:-)

Just been advised it might be the MAF sensor as these are common to go on golfs...but im sure that would show on a diagnostic check???

Ill get this checked

I don\'t know to be honest mate, I just did a bit of research. Mine felt like it had no turbo and no go, was quite a transformation after! Worth doing anyway imho.
