Title: Can the water in the turbo leak into the housing?
Post by: RemarkLima on December 11, 2007, 09:06:16 PM
Just curious really, I noticed tonight that when I started the car warm it gave a fair ol\' bit of condensation out of the exhaust, I know they run hot and it\'s fecking freezing tonight (or t-shirt weather for you hardend northerners :D ) so that would make a difference (the length of time was 1 so go shopping and 2 fill up with juice and pay for it).

But was just wondering if water can get into the turbine exhaust housing at all? Or would it leak externally? Or would it just never leak as it\'s all cast as one lump???

I\'m still loosing a litte water, can\'t find the leak, the car starts spot on everytime, the cooling system doesn\'t pressurise from cold, only once it\'s warm, so just musing some thoughs as to where it could be leaking?

I\'m gonna leave it on some card in the garage this weekend and see if anything happens!

very unlikely i think. Last time i had a turbo in bits i could see no way for it to leak coolant through to the housing unless the shaft seal had gone. In this case it would also leak oil too.
