I know it sounds a bit rude, but i\'m cheesed off with my little compact engine-bay battery losing charge easily...cars outside so trickling not an easy solution, so who\'s put a nice big battery in their boot??
Cheers
Pete.:cheers
if u have rear bins put it in there and run power to front of car thru the wing(remove arch liner
otherwise same thing just mount and secure in the boot
i wld say 2 hours max 3 if u take ur time
i use a optima red top just charge every week
I use my car daily and have alarm immobiliser and have been running the same battery for over two years....
Last night I went out after the car had been sat for 3 days and I had noticed that it had been a little sluggish for a while....
Anyway... first turn over it sounded on deaths door so I prayed to John in the sky (don\'t believe in god!!) and turned the key again and after a couple of very dead sounding turns it sprung into life! (Cheers John!)
I think 2 years is pretty good for a battery so I\'m happy and have a spare and a spanner in the boot for when it does die!
In my opinion it\'s not worth relocating it. :)

Excellent idea, why didn\'t i think of that...
My FD\'s got one of those tiny (motorbike??) batteries in it, and the alarm kills it after a while... been going good for a year though!! :yes
I even bought a solar trickle charger, but the ciggy lighter isn\'t powered when the ignitions is off, so that idea went out the window...!!
Why not run a constant feed to the lighter mate?? that\'s what has been done in mine, although I cant see why as mine has got a battery out of a fork truck :) bug huge thing, which I have relocated to the boot!!!
If you want a how to guid, take a look at my project thread as I have taken pics as I went along!!

I\'ve done the same. What you need to do is hook up a plug under the dash that goes to the battery and an earth, and connect trickle charger to that. That\'s what i will be doing. When i can be bothered!! Currently battery is unplugged in this cold weather until each saturday when i use it!
i have moved my battery to the boot bolted it on the fuse box where it should be connected to the old battery and braced it to the boot .using a 4 guage power cable similar to the amp kits you get and just earthed it to the chassis in the boot very simple under the carpet and theres a nice phat grommet to go through the bulk head without removing inner wings can show pics if you need dude
You should run a ground lead back to the "Bay" or you will have increased body corosion and the battery will not charge as well either.
Also vote 1 " Dirty big Lead calcium battery"
the earth lead that comes from the battery goes straight to an earthing bold under the two fuse boxes in the engine bay.
why run an earth cable back to the bolt when the chasis acts as a bigger cable???
Because The return path ( The body) has a high resistance,(Dont laugh...) The motor ground is near the Batt mount.
Body seams are also a High resistance point. Also, It can introduce Crackling noises in the stereo.
Its delving into the nerdy bits of crevase corrosion and such,( So I wont explainj fully, It involves lots of equasions and is boring unless you are a Chemest!)

I agree with Kaptain on this as my stereo is crackling.
I will be running a direct earthing cable back to the bay at some time soon as its freezing atm and cant be asked.
Is it ok to leave the earthing points in the boot too if you run a direct cable?
well ive got a camera a screen head unit and phone kit in mine batterys earthed in the boot as long as the earth point is clean im not having problems
Boot ground is good too. Im running a Pretty cranky IPRA Jport that needs everything its got to start when you spin it mid stage!
