I\'ve just bought some D2 coilovers (same as in this thread http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44558), and wondered if it was advisable to replace bushes etc at the same time as I gather they must be 12 years (~60k miles) old by now.
Any thoughts?

Oh yeah I would, saves another trip to the garage to have them fitted at another time. I fitted Poweflex ones that I got off Ebay. The only problem with them is the rear anti-roll bar bushes were too big, but they might have sorted that now.
Some bushes need a special tool to get out, otherwise they get bashed and cut out...which I\'m sure adds labour time :)
Hell yeah! Do it! *grin*
((the bashing and cutting is themost fun...))
I\'ve had the powerflex ones for ages and was wondering whether to try it myself or get someone else to do it and pay em? How much work is it?
Well, it wouldn\'t make sense to fit coilovers, have the tracking setup, then replace the bushes and need it setting up again, so yes, replace as many bushes as poss, then get it professionally setup, not by your average ATS or chemix.
a few of the bushes on a fd are fuild filled and leak over time and loose there rate and it is difficult to tell if they are gone but the powerflex are a big improvement on a 10 year old car of any kind, they are a pain to change with out a press but can be done. they will make the car a bit harsher but then so will coilovers (normally have stiffer springs), dont burn out the bushes as the arms are alloy
how much harsher?
i thought they were very similar to stock. vibration?
ive never had the answer to this question but how much in total (labour) to change thee common ones?
or all 18?
