Title: CAT Sensor and CAT removal
Post by: leeroy_25 on December 09, 2007, 11:30:02 AM
Hi guy\'s and gal\'s,

I am in the middle of putting my project back together and have been stuck on some wiring for some time! Can anyone help me please! ON the standard CAT there isa sensor that goes in the side. I have this but the plug is busted of the end. I assume this plugs in under the drivers seat somewhere so I have removed it to investigate and the only plug I can find is this:

I am guessing the white plug is the plug I need for the CAT sensor but the colours are totally different? Also the previous owner as made a temporary earth connection form this wire to the chassis? If tis is te CAT wire are you supposed to do this if you De-Cat the car? or can the plug jsut be left empty? I presume is nees to send some kind of signal to the ecu?

Just to confirm the black plug on this section of harness goes to the plug on the bottom of the seat.

I would really appreciate any help and some explanation on this in preperation for taking the CAT off!

Thank you
Lee

If your taking the cat off then just leave it disconected mate,
I couldn\'t even be bothered to take the seat out & find it, i just left it connected & shoved it behind some heat shielding under the car!

I thought the wires in the loom under the seat should be joined together so that the heat light will flash, with excesive knock for instance! if you are fitting an Apexi PFC, someone correct me if i\'m wrong please.

See that is what I am talking about!! I can\'t see you can just leave it disconnected as presumably it sends some kind of signal? I am not plannig to fit a PFC just yet but will do eventually.. I mainly want to check if the plug under seat that I have shown is indeed the plug that goes to the CAT sensor. Then I can either run my CAT I have fitted. Or if someone says yes earth one of the wires (or connect them together) if you want to take out the CAT then I may just go straight with the DE-CAT pipe as it doesn\'t need one for MOT so I have found out being only a 1993! bonus! Only I have heard should really run a PFC and remap any mods as the rotary is very temperamental?

The black plug goes to the seat. Just join the cat wires together and the heat light will go out

Okay. definately just that easy! Bargain! Why is mie currently earthed? does that make any sense? I gather it won\'t effect the running by it not being there? On the cat sensor one wire is white and one is read.. Does anyone know which that relates to on the winring loom side as the colours are different! Aso am I safe to run with no CAT on ym standard ECU? The car came with jap mapped ecu but I currently have a standard one fitted.. I am in two minds about the mapped one.

Cheers
