Post by: looneytune on December 09, 2007, 09:25:51 AM
Hi
I have a gen 3, with apexi management, took vehicle for drive 2 weeks ago, got the clutch slipping then at the next junction idle would increase up and down from 1500- 3000 i drove it home home started it the next day and the rpm shot up to 6000rpm i let it run for a minute but it did not
drop, I have checked al pipes the throttle pot and same thing again mass amounts of RPM, the apexi reads at idle inj dwell at 24, my last trick was to disconnect the battery overnight, tried again this morning and no change whats so ever. Any help at all would be great.

First of all welcome to MRC,

Always tough diagnosing without seeing the car, but here are a few things to try.

It wont be the cold start system that has kicked in as the car is reving too high which should mean this is a hardware fault but as a double check if you have the stock ECU, for the sake of 5 minutes to change it,  plug it back in just incase.

Might sound silly but are you sure you haven\'t got a stuck throttle cable drop the cable off the engine end and see what you get (both cables if you have cruse)

Even though you have checked pipes have a look again especially the small pipes that are behind the throttle butterfly\'s because if you let air in this side of the butterfly\'s it\'s the same as opening the throttle.

Let us know how you get on .

Well idle is now sorted,
It turns out the apexi ECU had got water on it, changed the ECU for the stock unit and started the car, idle was normal horay, gave it a rev, and BANG BANG SMOKE SMOKE bye bye rotor.  GUTTED, GUTTED GUTTED.

Its now time for new engine. Watch this space its time to start tinkering again.
  Thanks for your help.
