I\'m running 14psi, redom ecu, twin K&N air filters, down pipe, xs power SMIC. What sort of figures should i be getting from these mods? It\'s a \'93 import type R.
Cheers :cheers
oops, double post
How healthy is the engine? When was it (if ever) rebuilt?
At a guess around 250rwhp.
engine has had a rebuild in japan, forgot to mention it has a different exhaust also, not sure on the make. Had a play with a standard rex a while back and it was an easy(ish) kill, so it got me to thinking. Also got an earthing kit!
Whats the stock power from an Import, i thought was around 250 to begin with??
well my is stock part form a panel filter and kaki exhaust system! and at the 112mph limit it was on 236fwhp at 6100rpm in 4th so with limit off probs around 240-250 fwhp!
just get it some rollers to find out. You should anyway to check the map on that ecu is running ok on uk fuel, so i wouldn\'t boot it till you get that checked out. Should be over 260atf. That ecu can run upto about 300 ish atf.
Std rex should be about 250 @ fly, mine was 255 with filters & cat back.

had the car nearly 3yrs so booting it causes not probs at all! So the increased boost from 10psi to 14psi only makes about 10 extra ponies! Crikey! Whats needed to get to the magical 300? Extra fueling, FMIC, remap etc??
My near standard rx was RR @ thor 3 months before i bought it so i have had a dig around and found the print out and it managed 276fwhp @0.75bar. It had only just been run in with 1100 miles on a jimmy\'s rebuild
Since buying it and adding a new pair of filters and the colder weather causing the boost to get closer to 0.9 planning on going for another RR soon.
Bobbit, i would have though 14psi on a healthy engine and the mods to cope should be around the 280 mark imo

Mate, if your running stock twins, I\'d back the boost off a little as you are skating on thin ice @ that pressure!! 0.9 bar is considerd to be a safe max to run as the bairings will explode & take everything with them @ 1bar (for a prolonged period)
These mods should give you about the 300 if not a little onver:
Induction kit
Down pipe
Decat
Cat back
Uprated IC
boost to .9 bar
re map
thet should get you over the 300, but if you add: fuel pump, & extra injectors then that would make things a little safer & give you a little more power.

got 305rwhp 360fly,apexi ecu & twin induction kit,walbro 255l pump,twin additional 550 injectors,boost controller,greddy smic mapped to these on stock twins
had 290 rwhp. That was maxxed injectors @ 6k rpm with PFC induction + exhaust
ran like that for about 6 months ish
then made 322 rwhp @ 1bar with GTR fuel pump 850 primaries fpr WI induction exhaust PFC
lasted 1 week before blew the turbo oil seal lots white smoke
Quote from: Bobbiti thought was around 250 to begin with??
@ fly yes, but I stated 250 at the wheels (about 290-300 @ fly). :Thumbsup!
Made 292 fwhp , RE Induction kit, Blitz FMIC, 0.6 Boost, HKS Down pipe, Silenced midpipe and quiet back box. Ive got and apexi PFC on it but not mapped yet and an apexi AVC-R boost controller. Exhaust system is very restrictive.
What sparks should i get for my set up? I\'m thinking 9\'s all round?

running NGK 9\'s all round always have never any problem
I\'m running 1 bar and have been for about 8000 miles now, including 3 trips to the nurburgring, a track day at silverstone and one at bedfordshire, along with lots of hard road driving.
not sure what power ive got but yeah...

???? :3Confused
??? what? lol
just saying i drive my car hard (Really hard, i use the car for track drift and daily drive as i have a fuel card for it and if i dont use it i lose it) and yeah, the turbos are fine. AFAIK they are the turbos that came on the car from new, when i rebuilt the car at 108880 they had very minimal play, not sure how much play now but car is well over 123k now and still going very strong. Wouldnt recommend running more than 1 bar but this talk of them blowing after 1 week at 1 bar is NOT the norm IMO. It all depends on the condition of the turbos and also the intercooler (if its very restrictive the turbos may have to make 20psi at their outlet to make 15psi at the inlet to the engine if you see what i mean)
its all in the setup....
Twin Blitz filters, HKS VMIC & hardpiping, Apex\'i ECU, HKS Super Dragger back box and remap = 307fwhp ~260ish @ the rear wheels.
