Ive used the trusty \'search\' and found some info n fitting a harness, but i do have a couple of Q\'s.
The thread i read said you can attach one strap to the original reel seatbelt bolt to the right of the drivers seat, one strap to the rear seat belt bolt above the back seats, and one to the original seat belt bolt to the left of the driver.
so the straps would come from the rear of the car, through the strap holes in the seat, and secure at your waist. but obviously the rear mount will be at an angle from the srivers seat. in the event of an accident wont this put a lot of pressure on the seat???
I hope that all makes sense.
Minty.
aren\'t there lots of reports where a full harness can be more dangerous in a crash anyway, without the full protective gear & being correctly adjusted/fitted etc, or did i dream that?
Si (quite possibly wrong)
Hi I\'ve fitted Sparco 3 point harness to my driver and passenger sides, and removed my normal belts. You should come take a look as your in Essex like me! :wave
Ben
Nah there save as houses Si!! As long as you have them on nice and secure you wouldn\'t go anywhere - wearing them lose tho is not a good idea !
Ben
what have you bolted them to? i plan on fitting them to driver and passenger sides.
Im not in Essex at the minute, but i will be in a couple of weeks. do you have pics?
Minty.
I\'ve had a few cars with harnesses & cant recommend them enough, motly 4 point ones thou. I\'d say a 3 point centre strap should be in the center of the rear somewhere & not to one side as this puts the wrong kind of strain on the mounts in the event of an accident.
My black RX has 6 point for track days and use 4 point on rd.
anyone got pictures, and a guide as to where to attach the harness?
Attach to the following points:
Front two eye bolts to the seatbelt hole and the other through the original seat runner hole (nearest the central coloumn). Then the rear eyebolt into where the fold down seat attaches to the chassis or on another fixing further back in the boot. Just feed the belt through the gap inbetween the lofding seat - voila!!:p
Ben
Thanks!
No Problem, gimme a shout when your in Essex as I\'d be only to happy to give you a hand with the install.
What FD you got??
Ben:D
Im coming to essex tomorrow, but i wont have the harnesses then.
Ive got the Red one in the 3rd Gen Section.
Nice, I woulda got a red one if I didn\'t get black - nice choice!!
Oh well, I\'ll probably get stuck at work anyway as I\'m not back normally until 19:30 during the week. Sat/Sun is best for me really - although I have Monday 1st March off and Friday afternoon next week if your free then?
Ben
I\'ll see what i can do. im gonna order the harnesses tomorrow, although i havnt decided where from yet. and im sure i can get down to you when im free. where bouts in essex are you?
Minty.
I\'m in South Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford. I got Sparco black three points from Carnoisseur (not sure of spelling)!
Ben
I will have a look. am i gonna need to order anything else to fit them? Im near Tiptree.
Nope the Sparco ones come with the eyebolts which is nice!! (belts and eyebolts are all you need aswell as tools to put em in)!
Ben
I was also going to order some Mazdaspeed harness pads for them, would you or anyone else be interested in getting some? Cost is $16 per pair. Black with white mazdaspeed logo running vertically and a "powered by" in red next to it.
Ben
i would definately be interested. they would go with my mazdaspeed seats :p
