if i want to fit a kaaz diff (1.5 way) or simular how do i go about it.
When you buy one of these diffs is it sealed or does it need setting up? or is it simply a case of opening up the casing and wacking the new one in?
thanks in advanced
defo get a mechanic to do this, as you have to take the old diff off the car.
Then remove the diff out of the casing then remove the shells/bearings/final gear off the old diff(this is a biatch to do took a lot of leverage and swearing). You then have to clean out the diff casing , probably use petrol, then refit the bearings/final gear to the new diff, then fit the diff back into the casing and set up the back lash(cant remember the correct term) settings for the final gear to the pinion gear.
Once all thats fitted and fitted back to the car, fill with Kazz oil then follow the break in procedure

that all sounds do able, i am a mechanic be it more race car based, however i haven\'t as yet swapped the internals of a diff around.
how do i found out the back lash and preload information???
an american web site has the Mazda manuals online I downloaded the PDF last year to get the info, If you cant find I will try and find the PDF over the weekend
so it will be the same as the standard mazda settings as in the workshop manual etc???
