Title: Improving grip?
Post by: interloper393 on November 29, 2007, 03:13:36 PM
Is there anyways to improve on the grip and prevent less back end kickout? apart from tyres that is, cars fitted with TEIN RA shocks.. is wider tyres better or do the braces help at all? think due to the hardness of the shocks you`ll get wheel hope n loose traction? roads here r poop..:Grrr

there\'s too many information about handling and grip.
its not wise to get feedback at any forum cos you\'re maybe a lead foot driver? or poor set-up?or teinra shocks not good?, tyres? etccccc.
It\'s take many years to get a good set up by getting feedback from fun day, race day and  write down everything on notepad about your body weight/clothing/hemlet ,pressure, temp, air temp, weather, tyres, tyres/wheel\'s too wide( big common problems)etccccc.
 and it\'s never end!!
Standard model\'s one thing and moifry is an another thing!
Hope you find something!

Alright buddy, I\'d check what springs are on it too since it looks like it was set up more as a drift car than a circuit car, might be a really crazy spring rate? Also what Diff is it running? Are they Jap Tyres? What power did you say it was running? I\'m seeing around 400 at the flywheel and have no trouble with the back end stepping out, unless I want it to! ;)

Might just be down to cold tyres and colder roads?

WOOoooo lol awight bud, u got those bits painted n fitted yet lol..

car has a paddle clutch, 2 way diff, think its all down to tyres to be honest.. i`ll check the spring rate as it is a drift setup, tiz much better know iv sofened the shocks :)
o got one of those front under the car tein suspension bar things 2.. cars solid so once iv got the tyres sorted, going for a laser alignment n see how she feels..

i know the whole suspension/grip thing is a minefield, was just curious if theres other things u cn buy to help it a little :)

How is traction in a straight line when accelerating?

I have never tried one so could be barking up wrong tree but could the 2way diff be giving you grief under acceleration thru corners?

Before anything else get the tracking on the back end checked and set up. Its often overlooked and makes a fundamental difference to the handling and traction. Have a ring around there will be somewhere near you that does 4 wheel alignment.

Ive got mine booked in at Kenny Brown in Hillington, Glasgow for Tuesday...hes meant to be a God when it comes to setting up geometry. I spoke to him last week and he seems very knowledgeable! 4hrs to do and £40 an hour sounds okay aswell!

Ill let you know how it goes..but im expecting a BIG change!

That, and the hard suspension - AFAIR, softer and more compliant suspension tends to improve your grip (hence drag suspension being quite soft).
