Well, I am confused by that, too.
Our cars are probably specced for DOT4. I put DOT 5.1 in mine (higher boiling point than DOT4).
I thought that anything that was called DOT 5 was synthetic, and the DOT 5.1 was the non-synthetic version of DOT 5. Yet, on their website, I found a DOT5 that was not listed as synthetic ! ???
** you should NEVER mix synthetic and non synthetic brake fliuds! **
so which one do you reckon i should go for?? would both syntthetic and non synthetic work ok?? as long as i dont mix
Castrol Super Response Dot 4. Synthetic, it\'s got anti corrosives in it also. About £15 per litre but that\'s fine for 2 or 3 years between changes isn\'t it?
Martin, I think you can mix this with non synthetics.
It\'s available on the net. I got some last month from a racing firm.RG Racing in Basingstoke. email robdotwillshireatrgracingdotcodotuk It was less than a tenner but the post put it back to £14.50 or so. On the net is the spec, which says you can mix it with other DOT 4. All this from memory please check.
cheers i will give that a try :cheers
I see D Tweeks have got it. Ring the advice line about compatibility, but I\'m sure it is. It was the anti corrosive additives I wanted.
Ferodo 5.1 is our most popular fluid.
