Title: Rear Diffuser:
Post by: Paul1982 on November 21, 2007, 03:26:42 PM
Hi guys,

Thinking for getting a rear diffuser but having problems.

I dont care if its CF or just plastic, just want it 2 look nice etc

Looked at one on ebay and its nice but after seeing BI6 RX X\'s one i dont know what to do.

On this picture  it has these plastic things on it:
(http://www.integration.avatarimage.net/uploads/3b9961651c.jpg) (http://www.integration.avatarimage.net/)

On the one on ebay it looks like there is nothing there:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190152253053&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=009 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190152253053&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=009)

Are these 2 different items or do some Diffusers have them?

I\'d lke this one!!

QUESTION - Are all rear bumpers the same STANDARD as I have a 1992/93 model.

The black plastic trim is usually found at the rear of the rx7 but can be removed depending on what look you go for.

If your rx7 does not have the plastic trim then no it doesn\'t come with the diffuser, my older rx7 had the trim still on and the new one doesn\'t personally i prefer the look with the trim still on :Thumbs-up

With that style rear diffuser:  trim off imho.  Ive been wondering what it was about D-Cups setup that look so good - now I know.

iv never liked that rear diffuser, think it looks too bolt on n tacky :S re-am ones far better as all the edges are hidden and the whole think looks far neater..

your supposed to take the plastic trim off cos it gets in the way of the diffuser (the first pic had to cut the trim) but it is possible to leave them on...

I prefer off.  I\'ve got the RE-A one.

Why do you want a rear diffuser?

We are in the process of manufacturing one as we type.

The diffuser can, when made properly give as much downforce as a rear wing.

The idea of the diffuser is to slow the airflow down that comes from under the car, so that it reduces turbulence as the air that is flowing under the car joins the mainstream air coming over the top of the car.  However you first need to speed the air up with the aid of a front splitter.  You then need to make sure the air remains free flowing so you need to flat bottom the floor, and finally fit side skirts that protrude significantly around the side to minimise spillage.  To slow the air down the channel needs to substantially increase in volume from start to finish.

If the idea of the diffuser is for looks then go with the one that floats your boat.  If however you are looking to improve aerodynamics.....you need to look at a lot of points prior to passing on cash.

For looking pretty until your one come out :Laugh  When will that be?

Our unit is almost done.  Unfortunately, and I\'m kind of doing myself out of business with this item, we made a call of ditching the rear tank and going for an in-car fuel system, this allows for more height so that you can get a better factor of increase of volume.  You would need to buy our front splitter, flat floor kit, and at a minimum rear section for the exhaust.

I will be putting some pictures up shortly....be about a month though.

Pm me with the prices your thinking about AtomicRex :-)

I have emailed Ken at shineAutoProjects just to see what he says.
I had a look at the Diffuser ($450) and They have a rear tail light cover ($250) which is a beauty and the Sanai side skirts ($230)which are like yours on your Orange motor.

They also so a front undercover for $150 which is a bargain.

But I do know that I\'ll be paying shipping and maybe Duty on these :-(

We wont be able to compete with those prices.  The items we are selling are extremely hard wearing! But come at a slight premium.

The list prices for
The front splitter is £870
The flat floor is £495
The rear diffuser is £535

But it will work!

Best thing to do is wait until you see the pictures.....you will be amazed by it!  Everyone has been impressed by the mould so far!!!

But I have a Road car and dont plan on tracking it as knowing me i\'d fookin crash out as i\'m a all or nothing person on a track lol

But i am looking forward to seeing your final product in action!!

I have had a fair bit from shine in the past including the carbon fiber diffuser and all the parts are great, very well made and good price.

I think the prices on rotaryart seem fair, saves the hassle of you importing it yourself:)

if you want it you can have it, my engine seals went by the way so  mate of mine has rebuilt the engine and and done some machining work on it, then i brought everything to go single turbo including turbo kit, bigger injectors, fuel rail ,motec, 6 paddle cluch, lightened the flywheel, uprated ignition system, fuel pump, but now i cant keep the car so no point building it up, iv sold the motec but everything else is up for sale including the rolling shell with gearbox and rx8 wheels, all the engine mods and turbo kit where brought from rx7.com in the u.s.and have never been fitted

The front wings are FEED replica wings and they are approximately 25mm.

The Rx7 is a true sports car for a fraction of european sports cars. Might as well spend the money to keep it updated. :)
