Title: Apexi PFC on UK FD
Post by: SmbFD3S on November 21, 2007, 02:52:05 PM
Just wondering if anyone else has an Apexi ECU and Commander on their UK FD and if there are any differences i need to know about from the JDM Cars...

I know there is no heat light on the dash for the knock sensor so how does this work on a UK Car ??

Also does the ECU just plug straight into the existing wiring or are some mods required, can\'t find anything about plugging one of these in a UK car anywhere.

Thanks for any help

Scott

plug and play mate, just like the jap imports. Dont forget to get it mapped on 95ron fuel unless you want to buy expensive optimax for the time you own the car. Also dont forget to tell the tuner you want it mapping on 95ron if you choose to.

Good point, was wondering about that, cos obv my car with the standard ECU runs on 95 fuel.  The base map is on at the minute, so does this have to use 99 RON fuel ?

Do you just view the knock levels on the Commander and not worry about the heat light flash then ?

PFC on UK car here.  ECU will plug in no problem.  I had mine mapped for V-Power but like Robbie has said, it\'s worth considering the normal stuff.  Also the shell nearest me will be closing soon so that puts a bit of a spanner in the works!

I wasn\'t awear that there was no heat light on the dash (I thought there was to be honest!)

Don\'t forget the base map on the ECU will still be for jap fuel.  You\'ll be fune to drive it up on 95 as long as you dont boost it.  Better still just fit the ECU when you get there.

The mapper will just map to whatever fuel you have in the car at the time.  For example, it\'s a bit of a guess if you turn up with a full tank of V-Power and tell them you want to use 95ron stuff.  They can take things into account though but I wouldn\'t imagine it would be ideal.

Thanks for the advice Ricco, will prob drive it up to the mapper on the standard ECU then tbh...

Heat light is on the main centre console on both the USA and UK versions, bit of a daft place to put it IMO but hey there you go... I have seen a way to convert the ECU so it can flash the engine light on the speedo console somewhere, will have a look for it...

Oh yeah, and does anyone know of a mapper fairly close to Leicestershire that can do the job well ??

WGT are close to you dude :) Just up the M6  I\'m jsut below Coventry and that\'s where mine is heading with it\'s PFC :)
When both the car and PFC turn up from Japan :wack: Oh, and i fit all the bits that are currently sitting in my loft/shed/lounge :D
You\'ll be fine to drive there on the base map from what i\'ve heard, jsut take it eay and don\'t give it WOT :)
