Title: Luv it ! Luv it!
Post by: buckman67 on November 15, 2007, 07:08:28 PM
For a guy who likes his motors pretty standard I\'ve gone a bit overboard ( for me ! ) with the dashboard stuff.  I started off with just reliability in mind but as an electronics engineer I got a bit carried away.  I fitted the standard boost, water, and oil temp guages, then added the A/F ratio and oil pressure clocks. Would still like to exchange the dead oil pressure gauge in the consol for an ammeter but aint got there yet. Imported and fitted the Innovate LM-1 A/F ratio monitor and the LM-3 Aux box ( to add revs, duty cycle, boost, air/ exhaust temps, g force  and lots more.  Only got AF ratio and boost working yet but lots of other stuff to connect. My son acts as co-pilot and operates the laptop during drive testing. While I had the instrument console off I fitted an engine start button ( S2000 ) works great and replaces the redundant " fag start button."
To date extremely pleased with this car the year I,ve had it. I bought it bog standard apart from the RX8 wheels and have gone for ultimate reliability but have ended up with " the best "  old boys toy ever :driving :driving

Almost made for the job !. The button is about 7cm long with a tapered fit. You have to remove carefully a plastic " collar " around the hole until she fits, I used a dremmel, took me around 5 minutes. Total job around 2 hours, would of been much quicker, but I had to work out the colour codes of my jap import from an american manual ???. Quite easy and neat looking. I used this: http://www.fd3s.net/start_button_installation.html.
THe guy had to modify his button to fit, but mine went in without any clearance issues, plenty of room behind the console for the long body, must be a LHD thing !.

do you plan to keep the cigarette lighter incase you want to change back? mine has an empty space where one should be and it would be handy for the likes of a phone charger or something. let me know if you feel like selling it. oh and good work :Thumbs-up

Bob

You would be more than welcome to it but I have an emergency punture repair kit I carry from the RX8 which has a cigarette lighter plug on the end.  I am going to insulate this socket and attach some croc clips for the car battery so I can still use the repair kit on both cars.
