Has any1 got a picture of a 99 spec engine bay, i just want to see what color the cross over pipe is which is connected to the y-pipe?
i assume it is metal on the later spec rx7 instead of plastic?
i just want to get one and chrome it up obviously i cant do that if its plastic.
i think mazda will charge alot for it tho......
thanks

This is a picture of my engine bay which is a standard MY2000 type RS

cool thanks that s solved my prob. looks like the cross over pipe is metal, now i have to call mazda to see how much it is !
thank again
shaQ
Shaq it\'s not as easy as that, that cross over pipr connects to the efini y pipe the earlier models do not have an efini y pipe so the pipe won\'t fit.
rgds
it wont fit ? :( it looks the same ?
so the crossover pipe connects to this efini y-pipe which is not on my car ? i take it that this is on the later specs too ?
shaQ
yep 96 onwards have the efini y pipe as standard so have that crossover pipe. The only thing you could do is get the efini y pipe also.
rgds
cool,
do you know why mazda did that is it better performance or something?
thanks
shaQ
It was a common area for boost issues. The old design was crap. Alot of pre96 cars have samco hose fitted instead with decent hose clips to solve this issue.
rgds
ok.
i take it mazda (UK) would have a hard time getting this part ? the y-pipe/crossover pipe?
as it is on a jap spec car only ?

you are right it will not fit unless i have the y-pipe. looks totally different!
I have one of those.. It definitely helps from your couplers popping off..
