Title: sard thermostat
Post by: ashc on November 04, 2007, 07:38:58 PM
a while ago i got a sard lower temp thermostat, but never got round to fitting it. Today i did the winter coolant change and stuck the new stat in. Very easy job, even came with a new gasket/seal. It opens about 72 degrees and very quickly, and i\'ve noticed cruising temps are about 7 degrees lower than they were - they were about 86, now about 79 - seems a bit strange, i was only expecting it to open earlier but maybe it allows better flow or something too. The old one was really sticky, glad i did it. The main (minor) benefit is the cool-down; normally i coast down the hill home after a drive but since the stat was shutting there was quite a bit of heat soak, now that seems less as i can drive into the driveway with the temps well under 80.
