I have the B&M and it is a good bit of kit, got it off clive, would recommend it. i know there is a good bit of info about the relative merits or both of them on the rx7club website. will try to find the link for you.

also if you do get one you may think that getting a heavier knob would be a good idea, and you may think that a Greddy heavyweight one would do the job. well they tell the truth when they say it is heavier, what they don\'t say is that it effectively reduces the shift height by around 1/2", thus negating any weight benefit and and infact making the shift so short your arm rubs on the cubby box whilst shifting!!!!!!

I\'ve had both

The RE-A one is terrible
The B&M is excellent - purchased from Clive @ MazdaRotaryParts for an excellent price and with excellent service!

the bm is an aquired taste
a bit stiff but very precise with a real click when going into gear
not everyones cup of tea but certainly puts the short in short shifter i would say its a bm barely moves shifter

So far it looks like the B&M is winning. What gear knob would you suggest fitting or should i keep standard one?

Cheers Garith.

Hi Garith,

The  B n M was an excellent piece of kit but they have discontinued it.

We had the last batch from the factory in America and were told that we would have to order 200 if we to make them again, sorry

We are currently trying to source an alternative to the B&M Shifter - watch this space!

yeah, i am probably going to revert to the standard one, not much difference in weight, and i don\'t get on with the look of the greddy. as for shifting speed, well it is the same as before so i guess it isn\'t the shifter that is holding it back, maybe a lighter flywheel would do the trick.

Hi Clive,

I have found a few on E-bay america. If they are discontinued would these ones then be fakes?

What\'s the problem you are trying to fix marco? The flywheel wil influence how quickly the revs pick up or drop off but won\'t have much of an effect on shifting speed.

hard to describe really, i find i cant move the lever as quick as i would like, and it does feel hard work at times. now that i have messed around with the pedals so i can actually heel and toe i can (try to) match shaft speed to help things, but truth be told it doesn\'t feel \'right\', like there is some kind of inertia somewhere that i am fighting- a had assigned it to the flywheel, is that wrong?

Hi all,

I have got the choices to 3 here they are

(http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/gasejo/re-ashortshifter.jpg)The RE-A Shifter

(http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/gasejo/mazdaspeedshifter.jpg)The Mazdaspeed Shifter

(http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/gasejo/BMshortshifter.jpg)The B&M shifter (or is it?)

I am being pulled towards the RE-A one but not sure yet.

Cheers Garith.

or how about http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/index.html (http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/index.html) abit pricey tho.
I\'m not convinced it is any quicker than stock either.

I used the Mazdaspeed one that is very similar looking to the top 2 as they still use the original turret and then just try and shift the pivot point.

Cost me £250 and I put it in the bin rather than inflict it on somebody else as it made the gear change very stiff and un-precise !

The Mazdaspeed one looks exactly like the Mazdatrix one I described so I would go with the RE one but I am puzzled how this one achieves a shorter throw with no spacers,

Just looked back at my other post and I mistakenly said Mazdaspeed instead of Mazdatrix, mind you they look identical.
