Title: Where is your Front plate positioned
Post by: Paul1982 on November 01, 2007, 03:23:29 PM
Right guys - the last owner of my FD had the plate on a holder in the middle of the front air duct in the bumper.
This cant\' be good for air flow and also looks pants :-(

:god  So please can you post up so pictures showing your front plates so i can see what the nicest option is to go for :3gears-lh

Cheers!! :driving

Hi.

Dont have a pic of where mine is but you might be ableto seeit from my display pic. It is asmaller than normal plate andi attached it to the top of the middle air duct on the bumper. Most seem to have it their. Anotherpopular option is a sticker plate which gets stuck on either the bottom or top of the bumper, watch out for cops with this one though.

Hope it helps

mine is currently in the best position of them all - behind the drivers seat. :)

if i get pulled will just say it fell off.. its covered in bugs and grime so looks like it was on there! worst comes to the worst its perfectly legal to have it on the dash as long as its visible from outside its fine! :D

Lol - Come on guys, you have to put it some where on the bodywork as in my Elise i got pulled loads when it kept ACCIDENTLY falling off.

I have a Private plate which is small so or the front is going to be: D5LL P
And Back: D5LL
................P

By the way everyone who knows me call me DELL if you wanna make any sense of the plate.

So far the 99 speck front bumper position looks the best but there must be a better place!!

mine is on the bumper as pictured and have never been pulled for it as it has the legal size lettering but when i fit my feed bumper i will reduce the size of the sticker and put it lower down.

Mine is the same bumper as Gurj\'s but I have a stick on plate with the bottom of the plate just above where that small vent is at the front of the bumper.

I never realised how good the FD looks without the plate on the front.

Am tempted to put mine in the window but think I am too chicken lol.

The sticker on the front bumper looks a good idea though !!!!

Having a cwest front, the mouth opening is larger than stock so i put a very small plate in there and there was no difference with cooling .

Hers how it looks at the moment

wegded between the dash and the window. No problems yet. *touches wood*

I really thought I was in for it yesterday whe I drove past a ANPR camera, a T5 & 2 Bikes on the side of the road, but they didn\'t even move. Guess I\'ve just been lucky so far.

Mine was in the front window passenger side . You can have it apparently front facing from the window as long as it is reflective and front facing e.g not angled .

i thought the law stated it had to be of the correct size and be able to read from ten foot intront of the car hence why the cops get funny about window number plates cause you cant always read them

MIne was a normal front number plate . I was told by one of those traffic officers that it was ok .. and i only got pulled once in 2 years for it ... and that was only cos he had one of those hair dryers in his hand and i stupidly was doing 30mph in a 30 and i dont think he liked it so waved me down!!!

The 007 plate style thing is very easily made with a central door locking motor wired up to the plate.

Go to Halfords or similar, get a central locking motor, a on/off switch and then wire it up! Sorry if that sounds basic, buts that all thats invovled. Obviously you will have to make a bracket and attach the operating rod to the plate but thats about it buddy.

Hey, My Plate Was Blocking Off Probably 90% airflow into my bay so i done some D.I.Y! I Simply Got Two Hinges And Bolted My Plate To Them Now When I Drive Down The Road My Plate Folds Up As A Result Of The Wind Pushing Against It, And When I Slow Down, My Plate Is There Again! Magic!
