Title: Converting from Single Oil Cooler to Twin Oil Cooler – is it straight forward?
Post by: M@r]{ on October 24, 2007, 09:43:01 AM
Having sourced a set of twin oil coolers (big thanks to JJ)  I now need to get them / it fitted on.  How much of a job is it?  I know its going to be time consuming, ie taking the bumper off etc but how difficult is it?  Could a right novice like myself do it?  Is it obvious what pipes to connect into?  Is it a potentially engine killing job if you get it wrong?

JJ has kindly found someone who said they would do it for me for £100.  I am quite keen on doing it myself though, I’ve been making an effort to start learning how to do stuff myself but I don’t want to take on a complicated job (for me ;) )  that has too many risks around it if I get it wrong.  One thing pushing me towards someone else doing it is ideally I would like it done asap, the French Track Day is quite appealing (10 days away) but I need it doing before I can go.

So:

•   Have any of you who have done this before got any advice?
•   How long does it take?
•   Is there an idiots guide to doing it?
•   Anything I need to be very careful with?
•   Should I give this a go or hand it over to someone who knows their stuff?

Thanks
Mark

probably a 4hr novice job or 2hr pro job
its fine doing things and learning but for 100.00 quid i would pay and watch to learn
one stripped thread and it suddenly gets expensive not to mention messy

you basically got to strip off the front end of the car and remove the anti roll bar completely...id say 4 hours novice is a bit too little....6 hours novice sounds more like it....its pretty tricky threading the cooler with lines thru to the mounting points!
