Title: PFC and cooling questions?
Post by: d6277n on October 21, 2007, 07:52:05 PM
Taking advantage of the nice weather before winter sets in and noticed two slightly disconcerting things:

1.) PFC screen went blank when I was warming up. After I moved the cable a bit it came on again with the start-up screen showing. Figured it was a loose connection, so got to the ECU and had a look at the PS2 type plug which seems ok - I\'m assuming it was a little loose and it looks to be behaving itself now. I\'m guessing that it was just the commander as the engine would stop if there was a power failure to the PFC itself? Anyone else seen this before?

2.) Just noticed I\'ve got a thin layer of oily black gunge floating in my expansion tank (can see it on the dip stick). Should I be worried? No signs of mayonnaise under the coolant filler cap, no loss of coolant and oil use seems roughly normal (not driven the car long enough to have a proper feel for it yet).

Anyone got any comments? :xconfused

Chris.

yeah, had the apexi go blank. pooped myself as not had it long. but like you say it was the commander camle come loose. Phew.
dont know about black gunge, but a rad flush would make you feel better, and then filled up with filtered water, that way you know your doing the best for the old girl.
