Title: High idle
Post by: Tim_B on October 20, 2007, 06:57:15 PM
My Fd seems to be idling higher than it used to.  Always used to idle at 700rpm on the dot (in normal up to temp conditions).  Now it seems to be 1100.  I know its not stupidly high but can\'t work out why its increased :xconfused
Also I\'m getting a bit more backfiring.  Anyone got any ideas?

Stock FD btw, cheers

Sounds like you may have got a vacuum leak.
This can be a small pipe that has come off or split or maybe the inlet manifold gasket has broken through,is the engine rebuilt? I ask cos if it has been then it will have had a metal inlet manifold gasket put on,or indeed if the car is post 95 it will too.
Regards
Carl

Cheers. Its had a rebuild and is a 95.  So I guess probably a vacuum leak - easy fix?
