Title: How do I fit my HID kit to FD?
Post by: RedRummy on October 20, 2007, 01:03:14 PM
Hi,

I\'ve finally got round to fitting the HID kit for my FD... (from MazdaRotaryParts http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43356&highlight=hid (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43356&highlight=hid))

Is there a \'How To\' available?  I\'m not sure where to put the ballast box, to how to even open up the popup light...  I\'ve had a quick look on FDUK and RX7Club, but not found a HowTo

bit crap I know, but I don\'t want to screw it up (and my engine bay is a bit \'busy\' so finding a place for the ballast is tricky.  :rollin

Hi

Do these kits produce the correct beam pattern using the standard light lense?  Plus do they use H4-3 (solenoid type) H4-4 (twin xenon) for the dipped/ full beam?

I getting seriously ****ed off with the dark evenings and not being able to see pass the on coming cars!

Thanks in advance for replies.

These will produce exatly the same pattern so there is no need to adjust anything, however because the light is much more intense you will see the cut off better and may feel you want to lower or raise the lamp unit slightly.

"Plus do they use H4-3 (solenoid type) H4-4 (twin xenon) for the dipped/ full beam?"

Apologies but I have no answer for your question as we have never been asked this one, I thought H4 and H3 were totally different bulbs.

The H4 bulb in this kit is like a double bulb in one with a large and a smaller bulb combined, then the H3 kit is a single bulb, is this what you mean?.

If this is of real concern to you IO can contact the manufacturer if you wish ?

Hi Clive

Thanks for the quick reply. I was just looking around and found there were 4 types of H4 HID bulbs on the market.

H4-1 Dipped only (One xenon tube).
H4-2 Dipped Xenon and Halogen full beam.
H4-3 Dipped/ Main in Xenon using a solenoid to move a sleeve to create the change.
H4-4 Dipped/ Main in Xenon using two tubes to create the change.

I hope the link below might help show the difference visually.

Sounds like your kit has the good H4-4 bulbs with it, is that correct?

Does it just plug and play into the standard 3 pin connector of the wiring loom, or do I need to run a new feed from the battery?

How much will the kit cost delivered?

Thanks in advance

Russell

This kit is H4 fitment. It has 1 hid dipped bulb and 1 tungsten filament main beam bulb per side

Thanks for giving the man a reply for us :Thumbs-up

In answer to the second part of the question, this is a completely plug in kit and not a hard wire kit so no cutting and joining wires.

You just pull the three pin plug off the back of the existing bulb and plug it in to the socket that connects the HID kit to your existing wiring.

Hope this helps,

BTW we are going to leave it a couple of weeks and do another HID group buy on these because it would seem more people would like these and we like to pass on discounts wherever possible to our loyal MRC members :cheers .
