Anyone know what it is and why its there? Its like a brake line dome but threaded in the centre.
Can I just fit my normal feed flange with restrictor on top of this? Should I try and pull it out? Or finally if I can`t do either where do I get a feed fitting to work with this?
Its a restrictor pill don\'t take it out as you would over oil the turbo forcing oil out of the seals.
Kevin
Are you sure, Its a lot bigger than the restrictor I normally run, and would be running on this. The only difference between my old and new turbos is this new one is ball bearing
The turbo manufacturer knows what oil flow the turbo needs. Ball bearing turbos actually need less oil than a plain bearing type as in a ball bearing set up the oil is for lubrication only in a plain bearing set up the bearing is actually supported by the oil in the journal.
Kevin
Yeah I know they need less oil but that contradicts the fact that this restrictor is bigger (flows more oil) than my old Journal bearing restrictor, I`m confused (doesn`t take much sometimes)
Just trust the guys that built the turbo if you start messing with it then any warranty would be invalidated or if still unsure give them a call.
Kevin
Ok cheers mate
It might be a smaller restrictor, but if the turbo is bigger it will have larger bearings so possibly bigger hole in restrictor.
Hi Ben,
One tip for you, make sure the oil drain pipe is at least the internal bore of the drain hole on the engine with no kinks in the pipe, as I have known people get this wrong and then the oil backs up into the turbo because it can\'t drain properly and the engine smokes.
Converted, 7 or 8 FD\'s now with different sized Turbos and never had a feed problem where it\'s needed either increasing or decreasing.
Please just screw the fitting in and leave it alone:WaveBye .
Unfortunatley it didn`t come with any fittings thats why I`m not sure what to put on there. Turbos a T51R if that gives any more clues
The drain isn`t a problem I`ve made up lines that are the same as the hole in the block so thats sorted
Any turbo supplier will get you a flange or there are plenty on ebay.
