well im new on this forum and this is my first post but have been trailing though threads for the last couple of days gathering info etc.
ive been thinking about changing my car for a while now (civic type r) and ive always loved the rex\'s :Thumbsup!
anyway, enough blabble and onto the more important things
im 22 with 1 yncb, no points or convictions but my best quote so far is £1700.
so i was wondering what others are paying.
cheers
karl
hey if you dont mind me asking who was that quote with ?
which company?
thanks
is that fully comp or tpft. I would like to know too. I\'m 21 my best quote has been 1600 tpft, and also 1600 fc but i think i got something wrong on that quote.
it was with admiral and yes fully comp, got a few more companies to try but i would like a bit more info so i can decide what to do.
was that import?
Try noel deazley
and any mods on that?
yeh was a import. no mods though. will try them :chat
just wondered if there was any one in the same boat and if they managed to get a decent quote.
Hiya, import age 21, £1200, no mods
They mirroed my no claims from my other policy
Charlie
you have to be careful on admirals site they have listed a 2400cc turbo coupe. Thats not the right one. make sure it is 2616.
charie, what company is that?? how many no claims did they mirror??
cheers
karl

They mirroed my 3 years no claims, they did say my cost would have been lower if I\'d owned more powerful cars before, Golf TDi not included : (
It was SKY insurance...also helps being a full member if this club...shows your not an out and out boy racer....
Sky Insurance are Great !!
£1700 FC ALL mods declared,21,1yr NCB.
well just been on the phone, they wont insure the car fully comp and has to be under a value of £5000 but he is phoning back tomorrow with a price.
Im 22, 3yrs NCB, pay £1100 fully comp on a stock J-spec FD as a second car and worth £7500. Thats with A-plan. I was with Noel Dazely last year but they wanted an extra £350 this year:eek
i keep hearing these stories with people paying more the next year :eek :eek
well im awaiting on two phone calls tomorrow but got a decent quote from adrian flux. £1470 FC with break down cover. they were good with mods as well, with a like for like repair
sky also said that i could have a second car on the policy they offered but with the conditions above
Quote from: Red and SingleI read the title and thought you were looking for a woman :D
or a man !!!
You could always look at getting a Uk RX7 they are quite a bit cheaper to insure than a import.
have been looking at UK ones but hard to find a decent one, £1017 with SKY but that is only for a £5000 car and TPFF
trying a few more tonight
I\'ve got a UK car and have been fancying a change recently. But I think you live a little far away to be interested. I live down in Buckinghamshire.
ah right ok, what kind of spec is it?? if its the right car then i am not bothered how far a travel.
Well the car is pretty much standard except for the pre CAT being removed. This was done as the pre CAT holds a lot of heat in the engine bay and also unleashes some more power and brings the car up to Jap import BHP.
I have also fitted Tein HA coilovers as I wanted the car firmer and the old shocks where starting to show there age.
I still have the old shocks and pre CAT if you want a completely standard car.
The car is a 1995 so one of the last (officially) sold in the UK and is in great condition and hasn\'t faded or rusted like a lot of the other uk cars.
The engine was rebuilt about 7000-8000miles ago (I haven\'t got the paper work at work so can\'t be 100% shore on that). The rebuild was carried out buy Rotechnics and the bill comes in at £8500. Anything that needed replacing was done and no corners cut. The clock is just about to turn 71000. I only ever use the car on dry days and spends the rest of it\'s time under a fitted breathable cover. Hope that gives you some idea and here are some pictures.

cheers mate but i hate red :(
got m7 1st fd when i was 19!!!!! dont know how i got insured!!!
but now im 22 3 almost 4 ync and its 1080 fc for another one
I have one years\' ncb and have been quoted £550 through my bike insurer (they started doing cars a couple of years back), they don\'t just go on horsepower and mileage like most though, they take your driving style into consideration and recognise the fact that some cars are bought by enthusiasts and not just nutters who want more power. They\'re called Carole Nash, gi\'em a try
i am 25 8 years ncb god knows how
but i got 570 fully comp
i meen god knows how no speeding as i just drive
i dont drive to fast but if ur just driving somewhere u r doin 70 down a duel carigeway and sometimes 40 down a road where there is no one n speed 30
i drive a white van
if u can say u have always driven 30 in a 30 ur either my mum or u dont own an rx7
I always drive / ride 30 in a 30, it\'s the limitless stretches of road in between the 30 limits where I get my fun ;)
Alot depends on your postcode too, I can insure my Corrado for 800 sheets in hampshire, or 300 sheets a year in Penrith (oop norf). ****, but true.
p.s. If my last means of transport hadn\'t weighed 180kgs and had 185bhp then I think the insurers would be taking a dim view of my new choice of automobile. Dread to think what it\'d be like actually.
they put 30 limits on silly roads here
i drive 15 in 20s where there is reason
but when no sidewalks???
there is always gonna be a few heros saying they dont speed
but why would anyone buy a spots car who dont wanna go fast
??????????????
i know people say track days but why do they drive em on the road
why people want a 400 hp rx on the road if they dont ever put there foot down on a public road
i do it and its great fun
no one has ever seen me or complained
same with a hell of a lot of people on this forum
Try elephant. They are the same company as admiral and even the website is setup the same but for some reason they are always at least 100 cheaper
Got to love those old thread resurections! ;)
:-)

my insurance will be up for renewal soon i will not be going with the c*unts at AF again :Grrr
been looking into a traders policy recently, just need to get some quotes.
What\'s wrong AF?
Currently insured with them!
well i took the policy out at (these are rough figures) £1600 fully comp and was paying monthly. took the car off the road in winter and swapped cars over to a citroen ax which dropped the price to £300 third party.
when i came to insure the mazda again they said the premium would be £2300 which would mean that even if i wanted to cancel the policy i would owe THEM £300
got them back down to a monthly payment of £200 after a strong phone call but then got the policy through the door and it said third party.
so back on the phone and asked to check to see if it was a mistake. no mistake, said i could not put it back up to fully comp, anyway asked to speak to someone else who know what they were talking about and got it sorted with them..
end of rant lol
I\'m 20 with two years no claims. I\'ve got a 92 Fd3s Rex insured with Adrian flux. £1400 for the year, something like £146 per month paid over 9 months of the year. Top notch company, brilliant service and helped me get it down to that. Before that I was getting quotes of £3000+ Its on 3rd party insurance as I am only 20. However, when I turn 21 the price will not change and I will be fully comp.
when im 21 i will only be paying £750 for a full year fully comp :D 2 months to go!
Sound, I\'ll be searching around to get mine down to that. Whats it on and whos it with? ... You lucky....
Quote from: TTMan;585724when im 21 i will only be paying £750 for a full year fully comp :D 2 months to go!
how, do explain, i will be renewing soon when the car is back on the road.
but wont even bother phoning flux :Grrr
22 n claims £800 fully comp. limited millage to 5000, sureterm. classic car insurance
btw adrian flux are terriable quoters, too expensive, pants employees. never ever had a good quote on any car i have had.
dont forget about some of the little extras you do get with some insurance companys like driving in europe?i have a hilux which i\'ve just insured with adrian flux, inc all legal costs in an accident+other things and driving fullycomp in europe for 30 days or 3rd party for longer if i wanted to stay there longer,
why would you want that though???? driving in europe i would just get seperate insurance not pay through the nose and not use it just my opinon
Flux covers everything for me, took some negotiating though.
I\'d heard rumours about he FD\'s soon being elligable for classic insurance..anyone heard anything? Also..what this I hear about them being classed a modern classics with some companies?
I\'m a man of many questions at the moment!
Quote from: karl_tate;585796how, do explain, i will be renewing soon when the car is back on the road.

admiral mate. 4 years protected ncb :yes
I have had good prices through A-Plan, Im 20 and been insured with them since i was 18 on my REX.
Quote from: TTMan;585724when im 21 i will only be paying £750 for a full year fully comp :D 2 months to go!
Have renewed now, came out at just under £900 because I chose to do monthly payments rather than annual, still saving around a grand though so cant complain!
which insurance company is that with??
You may want to consider A-plan they are an insurance brooker it would be intereting to know what they come back with as they beat my best quote from adrian flux. Also mention that you got the details from here next time ill speak to him ill ask about membership discount.
I (file://\\\\i) just got insurance for my Gen 1 for £185 under a classic insurance policy with Adrian Flux. Sky Insurance was over £350 even when I said I was a club member. Dont know if a Gen 3 can be put on classic insurance( and I am a LOT over 22Yr old) worth a try!
Bill
Quote from: karl_tate;604099which insurance company is that with??
admiral mate, will be worth checking elephant as well as they are owned by same company but quotes always seem to come out slightly different. I was already with elephant at 20 paying 1800 but they said they couldnt match admiral (their sister companies!) price so had to cancel and start again with admiral. hth :burnout
Time for my renewal. Still trying to get it cheaper but everyone else wants ~£1500 so think I\'ll stick with Admiral:
Admiral
22yrs old (full UK licence since 17)
2yrs NCB
Named driver on another vehicle
£1040 Comprehensive
If you havent already try "tweaking" your job description

i was looking on admirals site and found two options for insuraces, both with 2626cc. one with turbo coupe and the second with twin turbo coupe.
the twin turbo coupe is alot more expensive to insure.
does anyone know the difference between the two?
i am less than 10 weeks away from buying my first 7 so im looking at insurance now.
any help would be appreciated.
you want the one which is twin turbo coupe
what is the reason for the turbo coupe? single turbo conversion?
hmm as i understand it, the insurance companies have ....ed up heavily with rotary cars and what is below is what I was told by my insurance company as definitive. He said there are a lot of models listed on websites for which a car doesnt even exist
2354cc Coupe = 1st Gen RX7 (FB) 12a engine normally aspirated
2354cc Turbo Coupe = 1st Gen RX7 (FB) 12a engine Elford Turbo
2616cc Coupe Inj = 2nd Gen (FC) 13b engine normally aspirated
2616cc Turbo Coupe = 2nd Gen (FC) 13b engine Turbo II or import equivalent
2616cc Twin Turbo Coupe = 3rd Gen (FD) 13b engine Twin Turbo
2616cc Twin Turbo Import = 3rd Gen (FD) 13b engine Twin Turbo Import
"Turbo Coupe"they quoting the FC model not the FD
thanks lads. helped clear that up for me.
