They mirroed my 3 years no claims, they did say my cost would have been lower if I\'d owned more powerful cars before, Golf TDi not included : (

It was SKY insurance...also helps being a full member if this club...shows your not an out and out boy racer....

You could always look at getting a Uk RX7 they are quite a bit cheaper to insure than a import.

Post by: Mazzyrx7 on October 19, 2007, 02:38:31 PM
Well the car is pretty much standard except for the pre CAT being removed. This was done as the pre CAT holds a lot of heat in the engine bay and also unleashes some more power and brings the car up to Jap import BHP.
I have also fitted Tein HA coilovers as I wanted the car firmer and the old shocks where starting to show there age.
I still have the old shocks and pre CAT if you want a completely standard car.
The car is a 1995 so one of the last (officially) sold in the UK and is in great condition and hasn\'t faded or rusted like a lot of the other uk cars.
The engine was rebuilt about 7000-8000miles ago (I haven\'t got the paper work at work so can\'t be 100% shore on that). The rebuild was carried out buy Rotechnics and the bill comes in at £8500. Anything that needed replacing was done and no corners cut. The clock is just about to turn 71000. I only ever use the car on dry days and spends the rest of it\'s time under a fitted breathable cover. Hope that gives you some idea and here are some pictures.

I have one years\' ncb and have been quoted £550 through my bike insurer (they started doing cars a couple of years back), they don\'t just go on horsepower and mileage like most though, they take your driving style into consideration and recognise the fact that some cars are bought by enthusiasts and not just nutters who want more power.  They\'re called Carole Nash, gi\'em a try

i am 25 8 years ncb god knows how
but i got 570 fully comp
i meen god knows how no speeding as i just drive
i dont drive to fast but if ur just driving somewhere u r doin 70 down a duel carigeway and sometimes 40 down a road where there is no one n speed 30
i drive a white van
if u can say u have always driven 30 in a 30 ur either my mum or u dont own an rx7
Title: 22 yr old and younger please
Post by: Lawler on January 10, 2008, 10:49:50 PM
I always drive / ride 30 in a 30, it\'s the limitless stretches of road in between the 30 limits where I get my fun ;)

Alot depends on your postcode too, I can insure my Corrado for 800 sheets in hampshire, or 300 sheets a year in Penrith (oop norf). ****, but true.

p.s. If my last means of transport hadn\'t weighed 180kgs and had 185bhp then I think the insurers would be taking a dim view of my new choice of automobile. Dread to think what it\'d be like actually.

Post by: tezz12345 on January 10, 2008, 10:56:49 PM
they put 30 limits on silly roads here
i drive 15 in 20s where there is reason
but when no sidewalks???
there is always gonna be a few heros saying they dont speed
but why would anyone buy a spots car who dont wanna go fast
??????????????
i know people say track days but why do they drive em on the road
why people want a 400 hp rx on the road if they dont ever put there foot down on a public road
i do it and its great fun
no one has ever seen me or complained
same with a hell of a lot of people on this forum

well i took the policy out at (these are rough figures) £1600 fully comp and was paying monthly. took the car off the road in winter and swapped cars over to a citroen ax which dropped the price to £300 third party.

when i came to insure the mazda again they said the premium would be £2300 which would mean that even if i wanted to cancel the policy i would owe THEM £300

got them back down to a monthly payment of £200 after a strong phone call but then got the policy through the door and it said third party.

so back on the phone and asked to check to see if it was a mistake. no mistake, said i could not put it back up to fully comp, anyway asked to speak to someone else who know what they were talking about and got it sorted with them..

end of rant lol

I\'m 20 with two years no claims. I\'ve got a 92 Fd3s Rex insured with Adrian flux. £1400 for the year, something like £146 per month paid over 9 months of the year. Top notch company, brilliant service and helped me get it down to that. Before that I was getting quotes of £3000+ Its on 3rd party insurance as I am only 20. However, when I turn 21 the price will not change and I will be fully comp.

You may want to consider A-plan they are an insurance brooker it would be intereting to know what they come back with as they beat my best quote from adrian flux. Also mention that you got the details from here next time ill speak to him ill ask about membership discount.

I (file://\\\\i) just got insurance for my Gen 1 for £185 under a classic insurance policy with Adrian Flux. Sky Insurance was over £350 even when I said I was a club member. Dont know if a Gen 3 can be put on classic insurance( and I am a LOT over 22Yr old) worth a try!

admiral mate, will be worth checking elephant as well as they are owned by same company but quotes always seem to come out slightly different. I was already with elephant at 20 paying 1800 but they said they couldnt match admiral (their sister companies!) price so had to cancel and start again with admiral. hth :burnout

Time for my renewal. Still trying to get it cheaper but everyone else wants ~£1500 so think I\'ll stick with Admiral:

Admiral
22yrs old (full UK licence since 17)
2yrs NCB
Named driver on another vehicle
£1040 Comprehensive

i was looking on admirals site and found two options for insuraces, both with 2626cc. one with turbo coupe and the second with twin turbo coupe.
the twin turbo coupe is alot more expensive to insure.
does anyone know the difference between the two?
i am less than 10 weeks away from buying my first 7 so im looking at insurance now.
any help would be appreciated.

hmm as i understand it, the insurance companies have ....ed up heavily with rotary cars and what is below is what I was told by my insurance company as definitive. He said there are a lot of models listed on websites for which a car doesnt even exist

2354cc Coupe = 1st Gen RX7 (FB) 12a engine normally aspirated
2354cc Turbo Coupe = 1st Gen RX7 (FB) 12a engine Elford Turbo
2616cc Coupe Inj = 2nd Gen (FC) 13b engine normally aspirated
2616cc Turbo Coupe = 2nd Gen (FC) 13b engine Turbo II or import equivalent
2616cc Twin Turbo Coupe = 3rd Gen (FD) 13b engine Twin Turbo
2616cc Twin Turbo Import = 3rd Gen (FD) 13b engine Twin Turbo Import
