Title: Some rx7 help please
Post by: Colin on October 15, 2007, 07:33:44 PM
Hi guys, i am looking at buying an rx7 fairly soon. There are a couple of cars i am interested in:

The black one;

&

Having spoken to a mate with an rx7(he is on this site but i dont know his user name, hi nigel) I want one with an engine rebuild which is close to standard. The car at jimmy\'s garage really appeals due to the warranty, do you guys think its worth the extra money? Does this garage have a good reputation?

Could you guys give me advise on what to choose thanks.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Colin

Jimmy\'s have a good reputation and according to the ad, it has lots of other new parts like clutch, water pump, tyres etc. These are all going to help you have a far more reliable journey into RX ownership. I\'d say of the 2 its less likely to cause any bother. Thats not to say that the other 1 is bad as its quite difficult to gauge how good a car is on the net.

Welcome good choice of colour.Dont know the car on PH but a warranty with what has been done at Jimmy\'s has got to give you peace of mind

I can\'t comment on those cars in particular but i originally got mine from andrew at jimmys, as with that one it came with a rebuild and loads of extra work done, and even a top notch valetting. I found andrew really helpful and in fact for the next few years went 120 miles each way back to andrew for servicing etc. i\'d have no qualms recommending him (if only i could spell the word)

if your looking at saving money then call the people who rebuilt the PH one and ask them how much was spent. you can buy an extended warranty privately

i bought mine from PH and as it happens it had a rebuild at Jimmys

Thanks for the replys, the manchester based car is now sold so its easy to pick now. The rx7 at jimmy\'s garage wont be ready for a couple of weeks so ill have to wait and see.

Its good to here the jimmy\'s garage sounds like a very reputable company.

if you\'re looking for a stock example you could do a hell of a lot worse than this I reckon.

not seen it in person but if I was in the market for a stock unmolested one this would be high on my list

All 3 have had rebuilds recently so deffo a good start,

If you are unsure which one to go for the best thing to do if you have time is to view all 3, test drive all 3 and see which suits you best :King

Dear  Colin,
I bought my Rex from Jimmy\'s in 2004. Every year I am very happy to take it back to Andrew for servicing because of the exceptional and personal service.
You will be in good hands. Thoroughly recommended.
Best wishes,
fdman
