Title: Petrol smell / 1990 TII
Post by: TiddlesRX7 on October 14, 2007, 07:13:04 PM
I seem to be getting a strong smell of petrol when im on the loud pedal. Its always been like this but it seems to be stronger now than when I got the car. I know these cars run rich and should be smelling a bit, but im getting a bit worried as the fuel economy seems to be dropping too. Any ideas what I should check? Is this a common thing?

I had this with mine, a while ago, it was caused by a leak at the inlet manifold gasket.

Had the same on my EGI. Injector rubber needed replacement.

thanks for the response guys. Am I imagining that I should be getting more than 80/90 miles out of £30 of V power.

Is there another way to lean the mixture out a touch other than the screw on the BAC valve? I don\'t want to lean it out to much obviously but I just think its running too rich.
